  • Ongoing $134.5 Billion Bearer Bond Mystery: Possible Link to Upcoming Bank Holiday [View article]
Man, you gotta do some research before you
write - no one traveled to Italy because the USA has NEVER issued Bearer Bonds in denominations higher than $10,000. This is well known. (it is a strange and fascinating story, though.)

  • Why It's Actually Different This Time  [View article]
Was with you till you state Warren Buffet lost a ton of cash in the derivatives market - my understanding is that it is all on paper till the final reckoning in 15 years+. This kind of easily checked misstatement makes me wonder...Do agree it is going to be a wild ride.

  • A Housing Thought Experiment [View article]
A House is a depreciating asset that has a life
of around 60 years, only the land has value after that.
You forgot TAXES (major expense in some places) and MAINTENANCE (another expense and headache for most people) that renters don't have to worry about.
Over the last 100 years a house has only kept up with inflation - IT IS NOT, AND NEVER WILL BE, AN INVESTMENT - it's simply a nice place to keep your stuff.

  • Meredith Whitney Needs Some Historical Perspective [View article]
OK, Here's what you do - (my wife thought of this)
give all bankers a choice - work for the cap pay - OR-
work on commission only - with a formula where you
get paid on "what you kill" provided the company is making a profit. What's wrong with that?

  • Energy Infrastructure MLPs: Among the Very Best High Dividend Stocks [View article]
    Longoil,

Think you looked at the payout - it is paying $4.20
on an annualized basis with the latest $1.05 payout
announced. That's 8.56% at todays price. The Canroys you mentioned have oil price risk that KMP does not have, as well as currency risk. The Canadian Gov also holds back a portion of dividends for taxes, for which you then have to claim credits.

  • Automaker Bailout Fails: This Is Not Good [View article]
I too was upset with Republicans until I read
that the Unions will "consider" cuts at some later
date, but NOT now. This sort of "Union Think" is
exactly why these folks are in this situation and
why there may never be a solution to the Big 3's
    predicament.

If they don't care about their jobs, why should we?
If we are all to pitch in - so should the unions.

  • Dividend Investing for Monthly Income [View article]
AGG is a Bond ETF - this article is about investing
in Stocks for Income (& implied is that there is a
possibility of growth to offset inflation). AGG would
be a good ETF for the bond portion of someones
total portfolio. This school of thought is about the
ability to have both growing dividends and capital gains
over your entire lifetime. Bonds are eaten up by
    inflation over time.

  • Dividend ETFs for Busy Investors [View article]
Always like to read of your ideas, but BDV in NOT an
ETF. It is a CEF and trading at a 13.4% discount to
it's NAV today. You can not compare a closed end fund to an ETF.

Also, when you look at the last year, or even 2 years,
the NAV of BDV is actually in the middle of the pack.

  • How Private Equity Funds Manage Such Big Returns [View article]
I enjoyed this alot - very humorous. BUT the
"double floater ETF's", as you call them, only
work on a daily basis at 2x the market. Over
time it is much less. (Just in case anyone takes
    you seriously). KEEP WRITING!!
