  • Offshore drillers slide further after Ensco, Diamond Offshore updates [View news story]
Carl, can you find some other sector to flog on a daily basis? We get it, things aren't great for the deepwater drillers...enough already. Find another "story" to chase. Your pantomime routine is sickening and pointless.

Let's hope when it rebounds that you will give equal cheerleading time with SA readers.

It's shocking that you get paid to parrot whatever tripe Wall St dishes out.

  • Seadrill extends losses as concerns over Russia, dividend grow [View news story]
SEADRILL HAS ONE DRILLSHIP CONTRACT INVOLVED IN RUSSIAN WATERS, THE WEST ALPHA, WITH EXXON. WHAT IS ALL THE PANIC ABOUT?

The sector is so oversold it's ridiculous. This is nothing but a massive shakeout of weak hands. Stop reading this garbage, do your own research and follow your convictions.

This type of "reporting" is so idiotic that I have bought NE. If people want to follow research and nonsense like this and sell based on it, I have no choice but to take the other side.

  • Seadrill extends losses as concerns over Russia, dividend grow [View news story]
The bet on Russian hasn't even been wagered yet, ex-West Alpha. This article is the height of nonsense and ignorance of the reality of SDRL/NADL.

I expect a massive snap-back rally in the sector. Things have gotten grossly exaggerated and drivel like this just makes me believe the turn is coming soon.

You have to also view the contracts in the terms of getting the rig work or not. I don't think NE signing a 6 month or 1 year extension with it's best client for $100,000 less is a disaster. The other option would have been warm-stacking and earning zero.

fm, If you are so bothered and concerned about SDRL you can simply chose not to be involved in the stock.

Rosneft could easily do a forward sale to the Chinese and bank billions of dollars. The Russian govt can also provide a letter of credit to Rosneft. There is little risk of Rosneft defaulting. Same goes for Gazprom.

  • Seadrill-North American Drilling deal with Rosneft still at risk from sanctions [View news story]
Newsflash: European Union will cut down every tree on the continent to heat homes this winter. More to follow...

Gazprom will sell gas to Europe, Rosneft will sell crude to the market, Seadrill and others will book billions of dollars in backlog in Kara and Barents Sea.

There is more needless noise regarding SDRL than any other equity in the universe. Either buy it, sell it or don't bother, but can we please go a week without 20+ experts writing the same pantomime nonsense. Markets move, stocks are volatile and most investors are weak psychologically.

My predictions for 2015: The dividend does NOT get cut, SDRL books a few major wins from Petrobras, Russian sanctions do not hold as EU member states are incredibly divided and weak, SDRL drops down a few drillships to SDLP and NADL raising $2bil, SDRL sells some equity holdings raising another $2bil and pays down debt with proceeds.

  • 4 Reasons To Still Like SeaDrill After The Earnings Miss [View article]
I read it this morning. NADL will be fine, too many drones caught up in Russia war/sanctions hysteria.

Curious to see how the expansion into land drilling plays out, I figure NADL eventually spins it out into a standalone company, thus creating more value for stakeholders.

Saratoga, Brazil should be announcing the results of it's latest tender (6G+) soon also. 9 rigs for 3years.

Could be a nice catalyst to get things moving. I think DO will win 2 contracts (Ocean Courage and Ocean Valor) and SDRL will grab 2 (West Eminence and West Taurus).

SDRL can raise billions of dollars in one day: sell 2 drillships to SDLP and sell another 2 to NADL for the Rosneft deal, that would raise $3 billion.

SDRL also owns 39.9% of Archer, 8.2% of SapuraKencana, 50% of Seabras Sapura, 73.2% of NADL, 62.4% of SDLP and 50.1% of Sevan Drilling.
I am sure they could raise a few dollars through share sales of these entities if need be.

People need to get a grip. Turn off your screens and relax.

  • Buy Seadrill After Analysts Pressure The Price Down To 2012 Levels [View article]
Seadrill could drop 2 drillships down to SDLP and drop another 2 down to NADL and they would raise $3 billion in one afternoon. All of this noise regarding debt, the dividend, the sector, etc is nonsense. The oil industry is cyclical, oil drilling is cyclical, the sector is slightly overbuilt, take a deep breath everyone.

Management would not have increased the dividend last quarter, just to remove it next quarter.

The sky is only falling if you keep staring at your screens and worrying about every 5 cent move in the stock. Buy it and in a few years when you need the money sell it. Even if the price just drifts sideways, you've clipped 12% per annum.

  • Seadrill Reports That The Offshore Drilling Market Is Slowing [View article]
Obviously the deepwater drilling market is "under considerable strain" or SDRL, ATW, RDC, DO, etc would not be plumbing new depths everyday. The question is when has the sector reached the point of being oversold and when will catalysts emerge to help the sector rebound?

The sector is so negative, crude is selling off 1% every day and there is a never-ending procession of negative press and "analysis" that a snapback rally is a real possibility on the slightest whiff of something positive.
