  • Why I Now Dislike Apple [View article]
Yep - that's why we call some of the applidiots.
Problem is the difficulty finding rational unemotional rants.

    Hi ap,
Re "Bill, I am definitely on your side buddy!"
Not sure if I am flattered or insulted LOLOL.
Its just unfortunate that I had such total terrible experiences - would hope most folks have not - at least as bad. Seems like Bernie is about the only one I missed - hope he & Marshal Fields are sharing the same cell.
    Thanks for the comment.

    Good luck,

    Bill

  • 3 Reasons To Consider Cash-Secured Puts For FSLR [View article]
    @FredO,
Sorry to hear about your bad experiences. If you read my previous posts you will see my philosophy. I also try to stay below $35 stocks trending up, flat or in a channel and write OTM farther out, with low Delta & good open interest. I have never set a stop limit as I watch every day and would not be afraid to buy back a position if started going against me. I have done that while I still had a profit & almost always missed out on more gain had I stayed but nobody ever went broke taking a profit. There are quite a few very informative articles on option trading available - I try to read every one I find. Taking many better, safer small profits is better than trying to get rich quick - been there, done that.
    Good Luck,
    Bill

  • 3 Reasons To Consider Cash-Secured Puts For FSLR [View article]
    Hi K.,
Thanks for understanding my "shoot from the hip" reactions.
In my defense I did try to retract it but not quick enough on the trigger for that.
But shouldn't have made it in the first place.
Good thing about OptionsXpress they only allow margin use up to what your account can cover - about 50%.
Talk about "mentally despairing", probably a lot of folks today are not aware of what happened on Wall Street in 1929. There are pics of people jumping out of windows. Can you imagine what would be happening today with AAPL if we did not have the rules & regs that resulted from that in place today ??? Scary.
    Good Luck,

    Bill

    RS -
WTF ? Virtually no negs here ? Are you losing your touch ?
    How will I defend & attack ?
"Can't we all get along?" was a rhetorical question.
    Great article anyway LOL

    Still waiting.
Pick any time in the past 10 years you bought and held and try to show me a loss as of today. So maybe your in & out cost you more than you saved?

    @Kevin
re my previous comment - "Do you really know anything about options ?"
Apologize for my stupid, snotty & petty remark - sometimes I get carried away -
I tried to retract it but the damn editing timed out on me :(
Also just read your bio - very impressive - do you work in the field ?
I think perhaps your posts may be intended for the less knowledgeable potential option investor.
And actually for a lot of folks here are doing well with options, especially in this market - e.g. AAPL - small fortunes being made almost daily in options but out of my league.
Things are going my way since I started selling PUTS - no losses - just smaller gains if I exit early to lock in a gain..
I did make a nice very short term gain on FSLR puts a short time ago when it was around $30 - closed quickly at the right time.

If we seem to be having a communication problem here I am sorry.
Again I apologize for the dumba$$ thoughtless remark.
    Good Luck,

    Bill

Didn't read my comment very carefully did you?.
    I NEVER HAVE TO COVER!!!
My PUT options either expire (usually great) or get exercised (OK with me).
Actually in some cases I don't even watch them unless I want to close the position early to lock in a profit. I do that frequently.
If put to me whether I want to keep it or not I will then sell CCs.
Do you really know anything about options ?
And since I have been SELLING options I have no losses, only smaller gains when I exit early.
And "While I use a margin account too, I would still recommend that it's safer to always go in with a more cautious mentality."
You are risking exactly the same amount as I am - just tying up more cash. And you are using that "scary thing -LEVERAGE" just like I am. Anyone stupid enough to sell any put or call (naked, cash secured, covered, etc.) they did not want exercised and did not watch it is far beyond stupid actually. Even buying calls & puts should be watched to limit a potential loss.
We seem to be having a communication problem here. Sorry.
    Geez.

  • Annaly Capital: Cautious About Its High Yield [View article]
I AM old but not blind - I can see trends and except for a Black Swan incident (never seen one in interest rates) I either close out and/or take some option selling strategies. One does have to watch what is going every day and not worry about past or future stuff.
