Obama vs. McCain: Who's Better for Dividend Investors?
You have the right to cast your vote for the candidate that you believe is best for you. However, your comment clearly states that you haven't read the summary comprehensively.
The article ( which is also based off a NY Times article) clearly states that Obama would increase the top income tax to 20% since he will have congressional support.
However, despite the fact that McCain has stated that he will keep the 15% tax, there is a high probability that congress might not be with him on this one - so the top tax on dividends will be much larger than the 20% rate which might happen if Obama were to be elected.
To put it in other terms, which one is better - to have your dividends taxed at 20% or at more than 20%?

Nordic American Tanker: Income Strong, Raises Dividend
When you purchase NAT at 40 and you generate $9/year in dividends now that's great news. But what happens if profits drop and DPS goes lower to $1/year? Your yield on cost ultimately drops to 2.5%. The shipping industry has enjoyed a strong boom over the past 5 years. I wonder if there are any shipping stocks which have traded on the US markets for more than 10 years?
20 Top High-Dividend Growth Stocks
Thanks for your suggestions. While the tanker stocks do offer high current yields, their management is not committed to paying a consistent dividend check from quarter to quarter.
The 20 stocks above (with some exceptions) have been raising their payouts to shareholders for more than 25 consecutive years each. The dividend yields are above the market dividend rates. The growth in dividends in most of the stocks in my list above is above average; this will lead to most of them doubling their payment in 5-10 years.
What would you rather have a high dividend yield now which is erratic or a smaller dividend yield now which is growing rapidly?
I have found for myself that chasing high yields doesn't work for me. Thus I tend to stay away from tanker stocks and canadian trusts ( which doesn't mean they should be avoided).

Fannie/Freddie Bailout 'Disastrous Fiasco'
I disagree that the nationalization of FNM and FRE is a fiasco. If the FEDs didn't do that the whole US financial market would have collapsed and everyone would have been in trouble.. Don't believe populists such as Jim Rogers that the rich people have been bailed out . Many investors and funds lost money on their FRE FNM positions. But the end of the crisis is near..

The problem with PFE is the company's inability to increase the future EPS and revenues due to patent expirations and inability to create new blockbuster drugs. The cash position is strong indeed, but any future dividend increases have to come from somewhere.
It would be interesting to see if the company raises their dividend in 2009..

Royalty Trusts: Maintaining Income in a Volatile Market
Try buying some dividend aristocrats instead. They would yield 2%-4% now, but the yield on cost is much more probable to grow in the future..
New Emerging Asian Currency ETN Focuses on 'Current Income'
The current high yield is there for a reason. When a crisis like the 1997-1998 comes your way and when everyone tries to leave these thinly ( by forex standards) traded currency markets the yields will be even higher. But the principal will be lost..

PPG Industries: Attractively Valued
The dividend is $2.08/share/year which is a pretty decent yield. The company has increased dividends for over 3 decades. The eps is expected to be over $5 in 08 and about $6 in 09. I would say the dividend is well covered.
The stock has been flat over the past decade but let's face it the S&P 500 has been flat as well.
