  • Technology Retailing: Best Buy and... Radio Shack? [View article]
don't you just love it when your post gets erased. i worked for the shack between 1996-2001. the shack was famous for parts such as connectors,resistors,d... bulbs. it was a major part of the store with a high margin. on the floor electronics were mainly radio shack also with a good margin. there was in my opinion a good assortment of things that people wanted to buy. now the parts are gone although i am sure you can still get them online. most radio shack branded electronics are gone in favor of lower margin brand names. i have 36 shares of shack stock that cost me between $50 and $60 per share and now around $14 per share. you talk about the geek squad well back in my day the shack was setting up among other things home installation services of electronics. things like setting up home theater, computers, roof top antennas, etc. that was around 9 years ago and i do not remember all of the details.

  • AIG to Fed: Paper, Not Cash  [View article]
AIG lied to us up front. the bailout started at $38 billion and is now around $180 billion. with all that money why should we accept paper instead of cash when they sell an asset. at the very least there should be say 50% cash and 50% cash

  • Wall Street Breakfast: Must-Know News [View article]
i am a little confused i thought one of the reasons gm wanted chrysler was that chrysler had $11 billion and i agree that cerberus is a vulture. i do not think their intentions were ever to revive chrysler. it looks to me like their intention was to swap chrysler for the part of gmac they don't have,

  • Paypal Holds Sellers' Funds Hostage [View article]
my brother sends me money via paypal. i no longer call them paypal. i call them praypal. you have to pray that you get your money. it takes on the average 7-10 days to get money from california to florida. just think in 6 days you could drive to california and pick up a check and drive back. it takes less time for snail mail. it would take about a day or so for airmail. considering the blazing speed of internet why so long. when i shop at the grocery store and use my debit card by the time i get home the money is out of my account. paypal transfers are all electronic via the internet, if my grocery store can do that why can't praypal. it is because they make an obscene amount of money on float. that means our money held in limbo. before praypal got bought by ebay also known to me as oybay money transferred faster. i hope oybay goes belly up for their poor business practices.

  • Why I Am Long National City [View article]
absolutely correct and it is unfortunate that the people that we call government overseers can't find their butts with both hands, a road map, and a gps. they have chosen to force the sale of a bank that can make it on its own for pennies just like citi wanted to buy wachovia. these dumbos are allowing fire sale prices on banks and the money in most cases is money from we the people. we the people are paying to make borrowing banks larger and i don't doubt larger salaries for their executives all paid for by we the people.

  • National City's Earnings: The Loss Was Expected [View article]
what these belly up banks are doing with government bail out money is just wrong. they should be working to fix broken mortgages and not trying to make themselves into larger belly up banks. the taxpayers should have some way to tell those banks that are going to get bazzillions of our money exactly what to spend that money on.

  • The Yahoo Trainwreck [View article]
yahoo had their chance with microsoft to make a real nice but jerry ying-yang decided yahoo was worth much more when actually it was a toss up as to what was more inflated, yahoo stock prices or his ego. i wouldn't be a bit surprised if microsoft isn't waiting to buy yahoo at a fire sale price. it's too bad really because i like yahoo and now yahoo stock is in the dumper. at the rate they are dropping who knows how long they will last.

  • Sprint: What's Up? [View article]
i worked for radio shack from 1996-2001. during that time frame sprint pcs came online. the service was horrendous since most of their system had yet to be built and they relied heavily on analog. i made a prediction at that time that sprint would be the best and i still think that.
