I think this entire discussion is hilarious. We have a negativity bubble on our hands plain and simple. Every single blogpost on seeking alpha in the last 6 months (with the exception of some great contrarians) has been bearish. There is absolutely no comparison between now and 2000-2002. From 2000-2002, you could not find a bearish pundit. Everyone was trying to explain how its different this time and earnings and profits don't matter. We had PEs of 2,000 and still you couldn't find a bear. This time the global growth story is absolutely driving the global economic picture. We didn't have the rest of the world to fall back on in 2000 because the emerging world was still recovering from the late 90s.
You're all insane. If you don't want to lose your shirt, do some hedging, but in general you should be net long for at least the next 12-18 months. Believe it or not, that is the contrarian play. I've been saying it since late January. Here's an example of a bunch of permabear lemmings being proven wrong: seekingalpha.com/artic...

Nice pop on WAVE due to the proposed sale of their spectrum. The basis of my interest was the fact that the total value of the company seemed to be equal to the value of the spectrum. So, I guess we'll see if their business strategy has any real merit.
The American middle class will not go away because of Fed actions. That is an absolutely insane statement, KFC Financial. The American middle class is being pressured by the rise of the middle class in the rest of the world. The overall increase in people and information flows causes the undereducated, entitled, and lazy American worker to be way overpriced in the global labor markets. Why would I ever hire an American software developer when I can get a better one for less in Vietnam? Does it make sense for a high school educated individual to make $19 an hour as a unionized meat cutter? Of course not. Does it make sense that John Mayer can make ten million dollars in a year? Of course it does. You can't outsource John Mayer to India.

The author forgot to mention that 3 billion people are coming online at once. This has never happened before in the history of the planet. Some allowance has to be made for major fundamental shifts.
You're definitely not safe, whidbey. The drivel I have just read is deeply troubling to say the least. Perhaps you should have be required to have a basic education before you're allowed to run around on the net posting this inane nonsense.

Contrary to what your article states, the market DOES NOT think that FSLR is cheap at 285. That is why you're seeing the uncertainty and hesitation. FSLR is probably a bit overvalued at these prices. But only a fool would bet against the development of alternative energy sources. STP, CSIQ, and TSL are all very cheap ways to go long. I think your idea would make alot more sense as a paired trade: Short FSLR, Long STP, CSIQ, or TSL.

Jack, I admire your carefully measured responses to the asinine commentary offered by some posters on this board. Of course no one gets it right 100% of the time. The fact that you made one mistake is not a sign that somehow solar will not be adopted. That's insane. Look at all the big time money managers with 20 year+ market crushing track records who were long Countrywide, for example. Your restraint only increases my esteem for you and your forward looking insights. Thank you.
