Neilsen Sheds Light on Newspaper Websites' Audience Engagement

Several observations here--

In the case of the Seattle PI, consider the possibility that the online version is feeling the pain of having no traditional print edition to help support it.
With the Washington Post, this time last year, we were in the middle of the hottest political race of our time. A lackluster economy can't compete with that.
And, finally, consider what all that engagement has done for the Minneapolis Star Tribune, which filed for bankruptcy protection this week.
The bottom line is that when it comes to good journalism, consumers will get what they pay for.
