GM Restructuring Still a Sirius Benefit [View article]
GM will not remain in BK for long. When the restructuring is final, production will resume on the cars which have the most demand. Chrysler will be the same scenario. In another month this auto downturn will begin to reverse which will put Sirius on track to deliver better than expected results for Q3 and Q4. Regardless of the current situation, there will be better days ahead for the automakers and Sirius. Time is the most precious commodity, and Sirius has plenty of time on its side at the moment. The bottom line for Sirius will be healthier due to the temporary halt in production (as outlined in the article) as well as the new contracts with both GM and Chrysler. Keep the faith! This stock will surprise before years end.
Never a dull moment with Sirius. Something should come out tomorrow at the meeting beyond the RS and dilution. What this something is....we will have to wait and see.

Your comment, "when enough people all wind up saying the same negative general thing over and over again ad nauseum, with nothing new ever to cite, you know it's not as bad as it looks and often there's a lack of intelligence at the root of it." really hits the nail on the head for me personally.
"Me thinks thou dost protest too much" is the Shakespearean line that comes to mind. One would have to wonder if there is ever going to be any positive news on Sirius post merger when reading all the negative hype from the various sources. Nevertheless, I think that it is not as bad as it is being made out to be.

Never a dull moment on this one. Looks like Mel is proceeding in the right direction. I had suspected the reverse split was for the SEC levels just in case. I also understood the additional share to be the "cushion" necessary for backup. I would guess that the SEC will continue its suspension of the 1.00 beyond the deadline already in play as Sirius will not be the only one in the debt boat needing this kind of consideration. Overall, it was a positive call and things will be much better when the debt gets refinanced "in short order". As for voting on the proxy, I think it is already a done deal as there are not enough individual shareholders to stop it. Nevertheless, it is what is necessary moving forward. As long as there is no bankruptcy, everything will fall into place. The auto makers will get help and they will produce economical models. This will be part of the governments aid package/ownership play. Time is the greatest commodity, and Sirius will get the time it needs to make the merger work.

Ricker,
I appreciate your simple analysis with which I agree. It is going to get better in time. Those who have time are going to be OK. Those that do not will get out at a loss. There will be no bankruptcy and I also feel Mel is working to make this a success. Rome was not built in a day and neither will building Sirius into the monopoly it has the potential to be. Nevetheless it will get done.

As I understand delisting Sirius would have 180 days to bring the stock back over a dollar. The warning will be issued and then they have to resond in this amount of time. I could be mistaken, but this is how I have heard it explained.

Certainly it is important that the big 3 automakers in the U.S. be kept afloat for the sake of SiriusXM and its success going forward. It has been my observation through the years that the automakers are not allowed to fail, and in this present situation this will continue to be the case. What would really be interesting is if GM, Chrysler, and Ford all merged into one company. Wonder what the chances are of that happenening? Probably slim to none, but then again lots of things have transpired in the past few months that were unthinkable even as recent as last year. The government will step in as needed to preserve the auto industry in America, although they may end up owning them as well. We are crossing a line when the government invests in the stock market as the potential for manipulation could become an even more terrifying scenario than is being witnessed presently. As we trudge through the rest of this year things will improve, despite the doomsdayers. The economy provides great political theater at the moment, but for those that do not get caught up in the emotional roller coaster ride will find that it will get better in time. It always cycles back around. Sirius will be fine and so will its shareholders.
