Ok, last time I am going to try and impress this news on the group.

Read the excerpt from Metal Pages. There are two questions that matter in this space, maybe three:

    1) What is the future of REE pricing?

    2) When is your project coming online and at what cost and what suite of REEs do they have?

That is it. THE FIRST QUESTION HAS JUST BEEN ANSWERED IN THE AFFIRMATIVE BIG TIME!!!!

Do the Chinese have to swear in blood that they are not going to go back to cut rate pricing.

Now we see which project actually has the balls, suite of REEs, and cost structure to "close the gap" in 3-4 years.

imho this is bigger news than the quota.

Hey fellas, huge news out there for REE stocks and, of course, not a damn thing has picked it up. Here's a repost from my bullboard post, but here is what you need to know straight from the horses mouth, i.e., the general manager of the LREE giant Baotou:

"Rare earth prices have been returning to its true value and current market prices might not be at their highest level despite record highs. Cheap rare earth prices during the past years will not be seen in the future.

Zhang said that the market might see some imbalance in demand and supply for a while, but this will not cause a sharp decrease in prices.

He also said that Baotou Steel Rare Earth would not offload its rare earth stocks to depress market prices."

This is lifted from a Metal Pages article, and he further said that despite the already parabolic rises in REEs, they might rise even further from current levels.

This is very good for you MCP and LYC lovers and extremely bullish for the overall sector in general.

As far as quantities and qualities of companies and HREE projects, I think we have a two-tiered system here, best to least best:

QRM, AVL, ALK (note I have not studied ALK in detail, but they appear to be the real deal). It is very interesting to note that all these three companies appear to have similar mineralogy.

    Second tier:

TSM (.5% grade and in Eudialyte, so those are wild cards, but strategic location and good infrastructure); UCU (DOD just might buy them out, otherwise it will stay a national park); and Stans (again, I have no idea on Stans but I am very suspect of their prospects and it appears to me to be a pump job - but they could surprise)

    Wildcard:

MDL - who knows but they could find some ionic clay type deposit in Brazil and Neo is well overdue to report on the Pitinga recoveries.

    As far as LREE companies:

MCP, LYC (careful here though, a 2012 production date is ludicrous - 2013 is when they will hit their stride assuming no serious construction issues- must be watched very carefully), and REE (with the bonus of a lot of Europium and some gold interests)

Another fun day in the market, eh?

Also triple, there appears to be some question whether or not Nd magnet alloys are included.

Any research on this would be appreciated.

I just saw that as well and fully agree with your smuggling comment.

That's a factor that completely rebalances the entire equation, that is almost NEVER talked about.

    Gentlemen:

Raremetalblog is reporting that the alloys make up at least 3,000 tonnes of REE quotas, meaning that in 2011, the full year's quota is down at least 10% from 2010.

Big big big time news in this space once it is appreciated.

    Triple,

Very good comments indeed. Biggest news in the REE sector in a while. Anybody got a handle on how to back out the alloy REE contents?

That way we can figure out what the true quota is.

Fellas, great news for Lynas, but yes, Lynas has billions of shares out.

It's pretty crazy to look at share price.

But, as a word of caution, several sources I read and respect in this space think that LYC may have serious issues with the LAMP facility.

    K. Bradsher is one of the best writers on this space. If he's sniffing around, well, where's there's smoke, there might be fire.

Correct, an official complaint must be filed to even get the process started.

Chi, TSM has mainly a Eudialyte deposit. The MAT recovery process claims to have cracked it, because previously Eudialyte is a lost mineral.

Just as a clarification, the WTO ruling did not address REEs at all.

It only does by implication a/k/a precedent.

What would you like me to say, go opposite Hykawy's calls.

Again, why would anyone cite this guy as an authority?

Guys, why is anyone quoting J. Hykawy on anything.

That guy is such a moron it's tough to know where to start.

His constant pumping of GWG is not only shameful, but it is, imho, a serious serious conflict of interest since it is never disclosed what the relationship is with that guy.

You want to long term succeed here, stay away from Hykawy.

Yeah, I hated seeing that. QRM is going to trade to its own beat without as much institutional money, so its beta is 2x higher normals.

Just the way it is until it isn't, imho.
