It's a wonder that all these experts are calling for a boom in refi's. How does that happen when the value of your property decreased by as much as 30%? So the only people that will be able to refi are those who either put more than 30% down or have owned their home for at least 5 years. IMHO
In todays mrk I totally agrre with the author. Yes cyclingscholar you are buying capital..but with the volitility today in the money calls "hedge" downside risk more effrctively. When vols return to the average then I would agree sell at or slightly out of the money options. IMHO
Buy And Hold: Beware the Devil You Don't Know [View article]
There are some stocks that buy & hold work. I bought XON (exxon) 12 yrs ago for $68/share. A lot has happen since ..merge w/Mobil XOM..continue to raise dividends.. 2 stock splits. The results ..current effective yield 9%.. 17$ basis...current $74/share. The company has done everything an in vester could want. I still will continue to hold the stock. Does any one think US wil quit useing oil?
DRIP investing is a terrific way to & cost average. I have been a shareholder of XOM for over 12 yrs. My div yeild based of my cost basis is over 9%. Stargazer thanks for the info re WFC, I have a mortgage with them.
To bad that finding a bottom isn't like driving to a destination. Rarely if ever do you know that a bottom has been reached until you have. Are we there yet? or just going up 2% one day and down 3% the next. Stay tuned

"vacancy ratio is something that worries me right now" - thats why I've had this stock on my watch list for a while now. Waiting for lower entry point. Love the idea of monthly div's in my IRA.

I would hope nobody thinks real estate values will nearly double in 4 years. It would be helpful to if people didn't use the equity in their homes as an ATM machine.
