      You are a 98%er James. Bush does not work on the statictics regarding unemployment. Duhhh. He mouths what others say are the rates of unemployment.

      Why I Prefer Dividend Paying Stocks
      My first rule for new investors is...If it doesn't pay a dividend you don't buy it!!!
      The thought that the company cannot prosper because it is paying a dividend is nuts. There is no guarantee that a companies shares will go up because there is no dividend payed. lol You can bet that the CEO's salary will.

      If you want to do something about smoking, QUIT SMOKING.
      For a country that send a man to the moon and then brought him back this is a no brainer.
      Instead organizations spring up to fight tobacco. They would be better off fighting cancer. BUT that would be a worth while cause.

      If I had 12 months of living expenses I would pay down my mortgage. To keep that much cash on hand drawing 2% or so is nuts.
      As for investing in dividend in your later years? That is wrong also. I now never get a stock unless it pays a dividend. The dividend gives me cash if the stock is up or down. Bac.pr.l pays about 10% at today's price of $700. With this choice I have growth and dividend. Up or down.

      The article is good but external events change the thought process. Now that the government is making loans to the banks, we have to rethink the order of things. A set rule will not cut it. By the way BAC is at $25.64.
