A U.S./China Comparison [view article]
JE: You have a point but if you go to my blog, you'll note that my title is different: www.thebetabrief.com/?... But you're right ... I'm still not sure if I was focusing on the similarities or the differences. So many of both I guess. Jul 15 07:44 PMShould VIX Really Be a Trading Tool for the Masses? [view article]
That sounds good I guess but for a professional fund manager, if you traded for 8 months and then stopped because the model didn't give any further signals, then what? Hopefully, whether you're a pro or not, you've got the mentality of a multistrategy hedge fund. For the DIY investor, there's the flexibility of trading with something a certain way until you feel it's best to move on. For the vast majority of pros (except again for someone like a multistrat), that's simply not well accepted by clients or prospective clients who would classify that as something like "style drift". In my opinion, whether for the hedge fund or DIY investor, it's moving to new opportunities but it's all optics from a certain perspective I suppose. TAI: There's enough in terms of common spikes, I agree, but in general, Cameco looks like a significant up move to April 2007 and then downwards thereafter. U looks more like a sideways chart bounded by 35-45 with a few months above 45. I'm not the diehard technician but from looking at these, I think there's a case for holding both the commodity and the producers ... or perhaps a bit of timing between the two. Jul 14 08:42 AM
