Why iPhone Unlocking is Growing Every Day [View article]
Unlocking....why is this such a big deal ? How is this any different than when i bought an "unlocked" treo a few years ago ? A device sale is a device sale with Apple making a 40% margin and establishing a dominant mobile web browser standard.
And nobody mentions that in the US the only networks this phone can run on is AT&T and T-Mobile since it is GSM and not CDMA. So is still driving growth to AT&T. I unlocked my iphone (which i love) to run some apps and i'm still on AT&T (which isn't bad at all).
This Kedrosky guy is a tool. He (like many) is grasping at straws trying to portray the iphone as a failure because pre-launch they predicted failure. Well now it is proven to work like a charm, is selling like crazy....and the only thing he can say is..."people are buying them but only to jail break them".
Again..who the f** cares. People are buying them and loving them, to the point of establishing a black market for them. You don't consider this a success ?
