Apple Facing Serious Downside Risk - Morgan Keegan [view article]
"uber-analyst Tero Kuittinen".....gi... me a break, more like uber-ass. This guy has been wrong about Apple and the iPhone for over a year. He is just part of the telcom establishment threatened by an industry shakeout prompted by Apple. His prediction was that it would be an huge failure (what ? , no 4 MP camera !) and he is flat out wrong. Now all he does is try to justify his position. And "Morgan Keegan, one of the best research houses on the Street"....says who ? I've worked on Wall Street for over 20 years, Morgan Keegan is not top tier anything.
I would welcome a pull back in the stock though...i want to buy in here. Apr 08 10:46 AM
Can Apple's Resistance to Flash Content Last? [view article]
This is Adobe Flash story makes me laugh. Microsoft is forced to put Flash into WinMobile to try to catch-up and compete with the iPhone and these dopey old bloggers see it as a competitive advantage ! Are they really that clueless to what's going on ? The iPhone already has e-mail PDF attachment reader capability and superior "media rich" functionality. That is why the iPhone accounts for 70% market share of mobile device web activity. Apple has that position in less than a year. Think about that for a minute. Those "half billion devices" currently loaded with Flash....what good has that done for those devices ? You ever try using Flash-lite ? It sucks (and not just the battery) and that's why it isn't used much. This will do nothing to increase WinMobile's attractiveness vs RIM or Apple.
Now if MSFT could ever ship it's new Silverlight software for mobile, that may be something worth talking about. But again, these old time Microsoft apologists are just clueless to the real story out there. Mar 18 07:05 AM
iPhone in Your Business: Pondering the ROI Case [view article]
Also...I was hoping to see the ROI numbers in this post. Running a Blackberry service or Goodlink is pretty expensive. I'm familiar with the cost profile at the small business level, but not at the personal or large corporate level. As we chug the numbers today for our company the ROI on Exchange/Iphone is looking very appealing vs the old Goodlink install.Mr Dignan...as a follow-up post please post a high level cost profile of the three ways to now get OTA PIM sync. It would be very interesting for many of your readers. Mar 07 09:44 AM
iPhone in Your Business: Pondering the ROI Case [view article]
I manage a small company. We run exchange server with Goodlink but are getting frustrated with poor mobile devices (death of Palm, Win mobile sucks) and the cost and complexity of support . We were about to switch to GoogleApps Premier. The new Apple/MSFT combo is very appealing. Zero cost to add full sync and admin to our mobile devices. It might cause us to stay on Exchange and adopt iPhones (which are bleeding in at a high rate anyway)

8 Reasons To Buy Apple Stock Now [view article]
This is a well done post. It talks about market trends and product positioning together with basic stock analysis. Andy Neff is a real analyst. It is not some wall street guy trying to critique Apple's software development API's like i've seen on other seekingalpha posts. Mar 07 09:28 AM
iPhone SDK and Restrictions: Some of the Details Aren’t Great [view article]
Another absurd post. I'm a developer and when i compare what i can do with the SDK Apple just released vs what i can do on winmobile, Rim, or palm there is just no comparison. This is a full development environment !And isn't that what the 4 companies said (and demo'd) after using the beta for 2 weeks ?
So I wish these financial guys (like this bozo) would stick to talking about cash flows and P/E ratios....and stop trying to talk about technology development platforms.
And why no mention that this will be a fantastic game platform with hardware optimized graphics, full access to the 360* motion sensor and over the air game download ?
I could continue but this guy just probably wants hits and not details anyway. I don't know what seekingalpha is....just an opinion blog ? Mar 07 09:18 AM
Contrarian Indicator: Analyst Buy Ratings [view article]
This is the most ass backward way of stock analysis I have ever seen.Basically it says to discount an analyst opinion and just trade on momentum.
Seeking Alpha should be avoided. Mar 05 04:00 PM
Are Apple and Google Holding Tech Back? [view article]
Ernie...are you a dope or what ?Yeah, GOOG has the best IP and the best infrastructure in the world and is the de-facto search standard. And you say... "that is it " ?
Apple has north of 70% of the TOTAL digital music business which includes distribution (soon to be #1 retailer in the US) and devices (ipod) and desktop software to store and manage digital libraries (even on PC's). The attempts to clone or replace the itunes store, the ipod, or itunes desktop have been huge failures over the past five years. This is the definition of a franchise. On the Mac sales, they actually make money on the products they sell, unlike a lot of other manufacturers that have razor thin margins and need to produce huge volumes to squeeze out a profit. And this highly profitable business is growing 40% YOY. The MacBook Air is completely additive to their product line and again is highly profitable. Feb 27 09:16 AM
Why iPhone Unlocking is Growing Every Day [view article]
Unlocking....why is this such a big deal ? How is this any different than when i bought an "unlocked" treo a few years ago ? A device sale is a device sale with Apple making a 40% margin and establishing a dominant mobile web browser standard. And nobody mentions that in the US the only networks this phone can run on is AT&T and T-Mobile since it is GSM and not CDMA. So is still driving growth to AT&T. I unlocked my iphone (which i love) to run some apps and i'm still on AT&T (which isn't bad at all).
This Kedrosky guy is a tool. He (like many) is grasping at straws trying to portray the iphone as a failure because pre-launch they predicted failure. Well now it is proven to work like a charm, is selling like crazy....and the only thing he can say is..."people are buying them but only to jail break them".
Again..who the f** cares. People are buying them and loving them, to the point of establishing a black market for them. You don't consider this a success ? Feb 25 11:47 AM
A Beautiful Mind: Microsoft over Google [view article]
Is this a joke ? Microsoft and new user interfaces ? Did this guy ever use any MSFT products that try to innovate .....> the train wreck called Vista,
> the revolutionary simple interfaced called Bob,
> the future of home internet called WebTV,
> the ultra portable platform called Origami,
> the personal portable watch device called Spot
> and the best of all....the hand gesture interface of the future called Surface PC (its a friggin normal PC with a bunch of jerry-rigged cameras under the glass and they still can't ship it)
So the idea here is that MSFT's user interface capability will allow it trump Google in search. Man, thanks for the laugh this morning. Feb 25 08:18 AM
Research in Motion: Unlike Apple, No Slowdown in Subscriber Growth [view article]
This is an absurd post. He uses rumors of an iphone production cutback and rumors of an iphone price cut to confirm his original belief that the iphone was priced too high to succeed in the market. This is the major thrust of the story. There is simply no logic here. Current massive price reductions by one company (RIMM pearl at $90) are a sign of strength while future price reductions at another company (APPL iphone rumor) are a sign of weakness. And there is no mention that RIMM is not raising its revenue numbers. The real story is that both RIMM and AAPL are benefiting from exploding demand in advanced phones. The iphone is in such high demand that there is a hot black market for the device with people hacking them to run in markets not yet supported. Mentioning how the competition will catch up to the iphone while not mentioning how the market will catch up to a blacberry shows further bias. This blogger is a hack and should be ignored.
