  • A Disciplined Approach to Dividend Stocks [View article]
I have owned NLY for 5 years now and the dividend has always been there and growing. The stock has grown in value since my purchase at $14.05. I do agree, one must be careful, bank stocks took a huge hit at the end of 2008 as did some mortgage company stocks.

  • Are High Dividends Sustainable? [View article]
I'm real dumb when it comes to investing. But what I look at is div growth. I also don't believe in putting all your eggs in one basket. My strategy has worked well. Say you have $10,000 to invest. Its much better to invest $1.000 in ten stocks than the whole ten grand in one.

  • Cramer's Stop Trading! The Correction Is Coming (9/24/09) [View article]
KISSA: I kinda think that website is phony. If all those banks are going under, this country is in much bigger trouble than most think. I do know that bailouts by printing more money is not best for anyone. I watch the Dollar drop every day. Pretty soon it won't be worth the paper its printed on.

  • Big Pharma's Future Death Spiral?  [View article]
You are right on target about mergers. I worked for a fairly large company that merged (took over) another fairly large company to become the biggest company in the industry. What happened? They kept all the high paid vice presidents and unit managers of the company they took over rather than merging the business units and reducing high paid management. This ruined the company and after only a few years, they had to be rescued by another company that actually knew how to handle a merger.

  • Pfizer Whistle-Blowing: The How and Why  [View article]
GREED. Its the cause of the healthcare mess. Greed by the insurance industry, greed by hospitals, greed by drugmakers, greed by doctors and greed by lawyers. Go to your doctor and chances are he'll send you to another and another before anything gets done. They do this to spread the blame and make it difficult to sue. The whole system is crooked in one way or another. This includes our wonderful government, who wants to keep the whole thing going and let the taxpayers pay.

  • Justice Department Makes 2.3 Billion Dollar Example of Pfizer's Marketing Practices [View article]
There is one way we can stop this, that is ti disallow all advertising of prescription drugs. We already don't allow cigarettes to be advertised as well as hard liquor. Look at it this way, the only people that pay for this advertising are the people who actually need the drugs. Making Doctors into drug pushers is wrong. I've written to my senators and congressmen to put a stop to this many times but the lobby for the drug makers is much stronger than a few people who are aware of what is going on. I own Pfizer stock but I'm totally against the abuses that are going on. The prime reason that healthcare is so costly is because of this type of abuse of the system. Anyone who reads this should contact their congressmen and push for reform in advertising, don't allow advertising of drugs that must be prescribed by a Doctor.

  • Natural Gas CDS Equity Spreads: Volatile [View article]
When will the auto makers learn to build dual fuel vehicles? Its pretty simple and is done in Brazil. Natural gas is not the total answer because it can't produce enough horsepower to climb steep hills but with today's autos that are controlled by computers it would be a very simple thing to produce dual fuel cars that when the extra horsepower is needed, gasoline is used in conjunction with natural gas to produce the HP required.

  • Coming Soon: Banking Crisis of Historic Proportions [View article]
OK, lets put the blame where it really belongs. That is with all these free trade agreements. These caused massive loss of good jobs in the U.S. all in the name of cheaper goods made in Chinese sweat shops. People who were making good money wanted new homes, cars, boats and so on borrowed money to buy them. When their jobs were shipped to China and they were laid off, they couldn't pay off these loans. Many were forced into bankruptcy. Now the banks had to foreclose on overvalued homes, repossess cars, boats and so on. What will a bank do with all these overvalued homes and so on? Sell them if they can to at least recoup a portion of that money, but alas, the bank loses. Now the fed steps in and prints more paper to bail out some of the "to big to fail" banks. Borrows money from China to cover this new paper they print. Eventually, China will own the United States and never need to fire a single shot.
What can we do? Don't buy anything made in China. Whoops, that won't work because almost everything is made in china except agricultural products. We MUST bring the Jobs back to the United States if we ever hope to see the end to this mess. I do not blame the Unions for overpricing labor, and can't blame the companies that took advantage of this cheap labor via free trade agreements. If you don't believe that almost everything is made in China, just go to the store and look at any product. Guaranteed, nine out of ten things you look at will have a label "MADE IN CHINA".
A few lucky people found new jobs in the healthcare industry... at half the money their old jobs paid. These lucky people still couldn't pay the loans they took to buy the new houses, cars and so on because they were making half the money they made before their jobs were shipped overseas. The government of coarse lied to the people about unemployment because the people found jobs in healthcare or other service type jobs. I have no answers to this since many companies actually sent equipment to China to make their products.
Even service jobs went overseas to India. Just call the 800 number if you have a problem with your computer and you will get someone that can't even speak english well enough to communicate effectively.

Yes, it will get much worse before it gets any better.

  • 3 Energy MLPs for the Price of One [View article]
Funny, I own several MLP's inside my IRA and the nice thing is you don't need to fill out the Schedule K or anything else. When you withdraw from the IRA you are taxed only on the funds withdrawn. I take withdrawals as I need, monthly from the income. I try to invest only in companies that pay over 6% and the average of all investment income must be over 8%. This will generate enough income that even after the RMD there is some money left to invest in other companies. I diversify enough that my monthly income is about the same month to month. Thanks for the article.

  • Kinder Morgan's Dividend Payout Rate Is Unsustainable  [View article]
How about an analysis of the oil tanker business. FRO, NAT, VLCCF etc. I like your thinking but I still own and have owned MLP's for over 5 years and they almost all have treated me well. Check out APU and SPH. Both I've owned for 5 years and they are Up 20% + since I bought them.

  • Cramer's Mad Money - Who Needs Mutual Funds? (7/17/09) [View article]
I started w/mutuals but then thought "why not build my own mutual fund?". I sold all mutuals and invested in over 30 stocks that all pay good dividends. I invested all my divs. back into more stocks. Since 2004, my fund has tripled in value even after the "crash".

  • The Interplay Between OPEC Decisions and Oil Hoarding [View article]
I don't see the tanker stocks doing anything. FRO is way down and paid only a $0.25 dividend last time. I assume the tankers which are used to store crude also are leased.
