I totally agree. People sit at desks and have no idea how a rig works. I operate 2 rigs 25 years old and get the same production as the guy with the shiny new rig but I own my equipment.

NADL is in a very difficult position and SDRL and jf lost my trust long ago. I would stay away from these two until mid 2016. Too many variables on top of too many negatives. Their backlog numbers are fabricated. Just my $ .02

I have heard take over rumblings for sometime, I personally don't thinks it will happen. The problem is that the whole sector is down, every driller is struggling and just trying to survive. Having said that, HERO would be a bargain for someone, but when you have your own problems, rarely do you go looking for more. It would have to be someone out of left field. Not a driller but maybe a conglomerate or someone trying to be the next Loews, GE, Birkshire, etc... just my .02!!!

I also averaged down and I am long on HERO. They are so far down all they need is a couple of contracts and we are back at $1 or more. Oil will go up, it's just a question of weather they can outlast the down cycle. Is $200 million enough cash???

Rigs aren't like cars. They are rebuilt and can get the job done. U don't need top of the line rigs in shallow water. Every 5 years or so the rigs go in for survey. They will last for a long time.

Finally positive news. Maybe I'll get out from being underwater this year. Fun, what are we looking at for daily operating expenses on this rig??? How much profit can we expect ?

They still have $200 mil cash on hand. No liquidation this year or next. 2017 is judgment day. Even with the few rigs they have drilling, they can make it to 2017. So the question becomes: will oil be $30 per barrel or $100 in 2 years. I think oil will go up, up, up. This is just a bump in the road. Look at historical pricing. Yes, you have the occasional crash but long term prices always go up. It certainly isn't going to be easy but we are a long way from bankruptcy.

mark, I'm not a troll. You and I can discuss whatever we like but I really think a paid writer should have his facts right. We all make mistakes, but to say a company filed for bankruptcy when it has not, is something I could not let slide. its not insider info to know if a company is solvent or not. And keep in mind Dorien wrote an article, was paid for his work, and will be critiqued by others. Its what makes this site what it is. If you can't take the heat, stay out of the kitchen. Full disclosure: Dorien handled the critism perfectly fine. My .02

HERO has $200 million cash. Debt is billion with a B, but serviceable. Yes they are struggling but so is everyone else. It makes me doubt your whole article when you throw around bankruptcy comments. Please do your research. Readers deserve better especially from a paid writer.

Dorien, your previous comment implied HERO filed for bankruptcy. I believe you are incorrect. Not trying to pile on but tgrote7 has some valid points. What info do you have regarding HERO. Many people read these comments, we need to be accurate.
