When you think about integrity among people in the public eye, we obviously see alot of scandal.
Would you not agree it is unthinkable that.... 1. Buffet be caught in a sex scandal 2. Buffet be indicted for some financial crime or theft 3. Buffet wage a public feud where he 'ad hominen' attacks another public person 4. A BRK employee leaves in anger, and writes a scathing book blasting buffet.
We all know these would never happen to him. He MUST be a highly ethical and respected person among all he meets! If he were not... one of those 4 would be plausible. None of them are!
Read his essays, read his books, listen to what he says.
He stands by all he does, and has proven to be simply a l e g e n d.
When the history of the 20th Century is written, Buffet will represent it in a good way. How many other people will?
Ballmer: 'Nobody Gets' the Microsoft-Yahoo Deal [View article]
YHOO is just overvalued and while this deal will save them on COGS, in the long run they are giving up a big portion of their value.
Even after the stock drop of the past few days, YHOO is a 20B market cap company. Still a very high number for a company thats not a leader in any of its "spaces".

Snore... can' believe I got suckered into reading this dribble. Catchy title... but i doubt the epic advancement in right hand side navigation is gonna be a long term game changer
Excellent chart there... sums it up perfectly. Thank you for doing the calculations on premium annual return needed. Thats exactly the thinking Mr. Buffet used in making those decisions.
It amazing how quick people are to tear down and disregard people who have such a strong track record.
I recall a story about Bill Walsh, the former 49ers coach who drafted and traded for Joe Montana and Steve Young. After he retired from the NFL and was still living in the bay area he had an opportunity to get to know Jeff Garcia and see him play at San Jose state. Walsh called several teams on behalf of Jeff Garcia as the draft was approaching and told them that he though Garcia would make a good NFL quarterback and was certainly worth a draft choice.
No team drafted him.... or invited him to their camp. Jeff Garcia played several years in the CFL before he got a shot in the NFL.
No one could have done more to establish credibility in the area of NFL quarterbacking than Bill Walsh... and still no one listened.
No one could have done more to establish credibility in the area of investing than Buffet... and I see commentary about him like he's been discredited and shamed.
No one is right all the time, but some people do better than others :D
“You can buy the stock for its liquidation value, paying zero premium for the great management and fairly dependable earnings stream …. This may not happen again for decades"
"There surely must be a premium in the shares simply because of Buffett’s reputation."
Book value is 70,000 per share... price on Monday was 72,000 per share... no Buffet premium there
Berkshire Hathaway: Worst Year Ever, and CDS Too [View article]
To clarify.....
He sells the PUT for $100 now, and if the market goes to 0, he'll have to pay $400 in 2030. Seems like a huge loss for him, but if you factor in the fact that he gets to hold the $100 for 20 years.. you'll see in the worst case he's just borrowed 100 and will have to pay 400 in 20 years. As bad as that sounds, its just 10% interest... and thats if the markets goto 0.
Berkshire Hathaway: Worst Year Ever, and CDS Too [View article]
I think Buffet is right... his PUTs expire in no earlier than 10 years from now... some 20 years from now. So even if the market doesn't recover, all he's done is borrowed money at a slightly high interest rate. If it does recover.. and we're talking about 10 to 20 years from now... he'll have gotten free money.

It was never that bad for BRK, and perhaps now with these huge markups its now as "good" as it will seem.
But ... get some clicks.... good headline... except its the 4th one in 2 days. Your point is simply mis-guided and your thesis is bent.
>More stunning is the pernicious manner in which Buffett has >talked out both sides of his mouth when it comes to government >bailouts and handouts.
pernicious
pernicious... means destructive....
Buffets longterm persistent confidence in the US and its economy was, and is, a HUGE factor in the "recovery".
When Buffet did these 'pernicious' actions... you could have followed and bought GS at $64.... BRK at 72k....
You didn't... because you didn't have faith. Buffet does!
