    • Alesco Financial: Gem in the Garbage Pile [view article]
Roger-- I owe you some cookies for bringing this up on the radar. I researched the heck out of it after reading this article... and I'm up about 3k in the past week or so. Even if hadn't jumped the way it has, the dividend (and especially the dividend percentage considering my avg price was around 3.40) makes this something to stick with for a while.

Hummmmm... everything was going so great.... and then they had their earnings call.

      Le sigh.

Thanks for the article. I understand the other reactions to your article, but I'm more interested in focusing on the facts and ignoring their (and your) hyperbole.

Although I like to make as much off a trade as possible, I also like to wait and confirm the bottom, rather than risk the loss. Personally, i'll wait for gold to turn around before jumping into mining/metals.

Either that, or get access to Cramer's scripts and buy the day before and sell at the end of the day he broadcasts!!

When it comes down to it, I have to wait for everyone ELSE to be a little convinced (okay, maybe not EVERYONE, but lots of others at least... While I'm not trying to chase tops, I'm not trying to guess the bottom either)... otherwise I have to ride the stock down further, then wait for the recovery to come back into the black. I'm better off waiting for the recovery and jumping in early.

Thank you for putting PAL on my radar.

    • AeroGrow International: A Bargain at Under $5 [view article]
Down 19% today... once it broke through $3 it plummeted. So much for March, now there's a whole new all-time low.

The Aero Garden might be a great product, I don't know. (I was given one for Christmas, but I haven't taken it out of the box yet) In my opinion, the greatness of the product doesn't have much to do with whether a stock is a good investment... just as money can be made on the stocks of companies that produce inferior products. It makes absolutely no difference if I believe something is a good product, the market at large moves the stocks and I can only hope to ride the train.

Finally, I'm unconvinced by the fact that insider trading only reveals "buys"... the world is full of people who believe STRONGLY in their ideas, but it doesn't mean I need to throw money at them.

The stock continues to trend downward, with notable tanks (today), earnings are projected to be negative for Q1 and Q2... not exactly a "Seeking Alpha" sort of a play... more of a "Seeking the Basement" sort of stock.

    • Asbury Auto: Outstanding Yield Makes It a Bargain - Barron's [view article]
I appreciate your article, I'm a "newbie" investor and your insights are always appreciated. However, even with a .15% decrease in guidance, ABG has missed earnings estimates for the past three quarters.

That being said, the stock is up more than 7% today.

Could you (or anyone else, really) take a moment to explain a little more fully... (be sure to talk slowly and use small words) because I'm surely not "getting it." Seeing the chart take a long slide, losing about 50% of its' value since its' high in April a year ago, makes me wonder if a bet on ABG is a bet on the overall market having "bottomed" rather than a bet on the company itself.

The dividend is pretty, but looking at the chart, I feel like there are much better places to park my money that are going to do better than 5.9% over the next year (although the CFO said they "could" support the dividend... who says they actually will?). Again, I'm not getting it, but there's apparently something that everyone else IS getting.

Thanks again, and thanks in advance for any comments.
