Jerrold W, I respectfully disagree. We have to keep in mind when someone buys a used car equipped w/ a sat rad (factory or after market) does Sirius Xm have the contact of the second owner? Most likely they do not. Also keep in mind people have moved or have changed E-mail addresses. It's a fantastic promo idea!!! There are almost as many idle radios as there are active, so why not go after this strong number of already paid for hardware. Again the concept of the promo idea is very strong but it comes up very short on implementing the marketing. We are talking millions upon millions of idle radios. We look at each quarter and hope to be on the plus side after churn etc. What don't we or I should say Sirius Xm understand? These idle radios are already paid for and it cost virtually nothing to turn them on, which they are doing. But if you think even half of the people that own these idle radios know of this promo and that their radio in their car is activated your being naive and so is Sirius Xm. Sirius Xm could put a catchy large ad in say "USA TODAY" and spread the word to turn it on and try it out. Very disappointed on letting a great idea sit somewhat idle like the radios! Sirius Xm is a secret society and we are part of it and we live in our own big bubble looking at the stock's trend and other data but running a business model and marketing your great wares is basic fundamentals of a business. The stock price will take care of itself but if done right, but Sirius Xm and most of us don't see the forrest because the trees get in the way!

Brandon, I noticed no reply on your part on my earlier comments I made today. If you think I'm bashing your site you are way off. This site is where people who are up on Sirius Xm obviously go to. What I'm trying to get across is that the Sirius Xm community (the company, bond holders, stock holders and fans) are well aware of Sirius Xm. But this great PROMO is not worth as much as it could if it were to be taken out of the closet and put in front of the publics face. Some marketing dollars have to be spent or else this great promo won't have the legs it needs to come to its true fruition. Then the next time someone brings up this promo they'll say why do it again it failed. You of all people should be writing a piece on this subject. You've stated in past blogs that you are for this idea. If you are our voice to Mel, which you have his ear, I ask you to put out an article that shows the short comings of a great idea that is not hitting on all cylinders! It is great to turn on all idle sat radios, but I think it would be nice if they put the word out to the general public. I have not even heard about on Sirius Radio!

Brandon, I'm still surfing the internet and can only find one article beside yours bringing to light the promo turning on all sat radios & the $20.00 for 5 months. The idea is fantastic but the backing of the promo is week at best. I think you should not just think like most of us that because we read about it on Satwaves that the rest of the nation knows about this promo. We all are insiders, what about the people that do not follow Sirius Xm? What about the aftermarket installed radios and sold used cars w/ Sat Radios how are they going to know about this great concept? Fantastic idea, but no strength behind this. When will Sirius Xm & ourselves learn we live in a Sirius bubble and take for granted what we know and don't put ourselves in the shoes of the average consumer.

  • Barrington Raises Sirius XM Price Target on Q3 Report  [View article]
Say what you will but if Rick M. Sees that if you can't beat em join em then that's a positive no matter how you slice it. We all complain when we feel we are being bashed by the media and some analysts unfairly, rightly so. But when some one shows a change of mind by seeing the proofs in the pudding I'm all for it. If Cramer came out tomorrow (which he won't) and said I think I made a mistake on Sirius Xm and endorsed the stock we all could be mad as hell......on our way to the bank! I'll take any "Johnny come lately" or even Jimmys,Rickys etc.

R.M.@ Motley Fool has been changing his tune about Sirius Xm. He seems to be seeing the positive light by coming out w/ a more positive outlook recently. He may becoming a believer. He definitely is a WITNESS to all the positives coming out of the reports coming from within Sirius Xm. His blinders must be slipping off his face. He has said that he thinks Sirius Xm is poised to be one of the big winners when the economy turns around. If he's coming over to the Sirius Xm side I would like to welcome him aboard!

  • Sirius XM: Not Completely Out of the Woods Yet [View article]
During these tough economic conditions this concept could help this "Luxury" be more affordable by more consumers that our not able to pay the full price at this time. But get them on board so when times hopefully get better and they have more discretionary money they very well would move up to a higher tier. This would also put more of a strain on the NABers and I truly believe Wall Street would react in a positive way due to this aggressive strategy if implemented by Sirius Xm.

Did not have time to listen to the conference call, but I'm hoping that Mel is looking at firing up the Idle radios (as he mentioned something on this earlier) on a lower level tier of some sort for of course, a lower sub plan. I would hope that if this is the case that this format would have Sirius Xm promo's peppered in to educate the low tier on what they are missing by not ponying up to a higher tier. If you can get a sub @ 3.95 for a radio that is just wasting away and w/ the benefit of using as a marketing tool why would you turn away from this concept. If you picked up 2 million subs (Just 10% of all idle radios) @ 3.95 that's almost $95,000,000 added revenue per year. Not bad for a marketing strategy that cost little and pays you back 95 MILLION with also the potential of moving the low tiered sub to and higher tier!!!

  • Sirius XM Should See a Return to Subscriber Growth - Barrington Research [View article]
This is great news today! This more than proves that if & as this economy recovers Sirius Xm is in the front of the line to see the S/P take off. As bad as the economy is, it is rather amazing that Sirius Xm is one of the stronger perforimg stocks over the last 6 months. Yes content is KING and once the job market comes back more consumer discretionary dollars will be available which bodes well for Sirius Xm. The number of subs that are holding strong thru these trying financial times tells the story. Read the news time line of this company, it proves that the merger & the economy were the only reason for the slow up of new subs. With deeper penetration in the auto market, internet access and more product awarness from the upcoming marketing campaign we will look back at the last 2 years as a temporary road block that was out of the companies control. We will see growth in the upcoming months & years to come which will give the company the advantage to make their content even better due to operating from a postion of strength not only from a financial footing but also from potential content knocking on their door wanting to be a part of this future mamoth audio provider.

  • Oil: Supply and Demand? Hardly! [View article]
I'm truley surpised that only TheGreates... brought up NATURAL GAS!!! We know have with the new deposit discoveries(an tech to extract) in our own United States, enough natural gas to run this country for at least 100 years. Our Politicians and we as citizens should be ashamed of ourselves. We spend billions fighting terroists that are bank rolled by us buying billions of dollars on foriegn oil. We deserve what we get because we don't either care about watching our elected officials or we are just too dumb as a nation we aer too busy watching American Idle, Entertainment Tonight, or Sports. While going on hearsay when it comes to important matter. We create this viscious cycle and are doomed to fail. Yes a weak dollar is one of the main reasons for the price of oil being so high in cost. But yet we don't realize that under our own feet is the answer "CNG COMPRESSED NATURAL GAS". If we want to invest in a real stimulus plan this is the natural resouce that will more than pay back the goverment stimulus as we move forward with installing the infrastructure to get it to where it's needed and retro fitting vehicles to run on the by far,CLEANEST OF ALL THE FOSSIL FUELS (it is even 20% lower in it's emmissions of CO2).
So why don't we tap into our own natural resource? Could it be the way Washington has been run for decades know, where the big special interest call the shots because they have the money to fund the campaigns so politicians can get re-elected? It's just like the hugh profits the Banks,Insurance companies & Big oil interests at the demise of our once strong nation. "We Sit Back & let it All Be", that's right we as a nation are so divisive we will fall pray to the media, both far left and far right. We are not a united people that can have our own opinions but in the time of true decision making we do what's right for the good of our nation. No, we follow the powers to be that have their own agenda that we think that has our best interests when really we are ponds in a nation on a chest board that is not only made overseas but heading to a point where people overseas will be deciding what is the next move on the board. We have to wake up. It is time to realize that we are still 10 to 20 years away from being weaned off foreign oil. If we invest in our own natural resources we create good paying jobs, help stop the flow of money to terroist organizations, strengthen our dollar and best of all lower energy costs for ourselves and cut the costs for businesses so they can do more business by being more competitive. People wake up and walk away from the heard before we reach the cliff.

  • Sirius XM: There’s an App for That [View article]
Brandon, I agree w/ your outlook & potential for Sirius Xm's sub. base. The one thing this soured economy did was to frighten Mel & company enough to get them sooner than later to look to other avenues to sell their wares. Yes I do believe this new appl. & the Sky Dock are great start to a possible boon to the Sat Radio industry, but if you believe your words wouldn't you agree that sooner than later (X-Mass Season) you have to take the risk of spending marketing dollars. If Mel believes in the potential of this new revenue stream he has to get the wheels turning. So far bloggers have reported negative reports from Best Buy Etc. Let alone TV. They also need to educate the sales force at the retail level. The people selling in the trenches need to know their product! As an analogy, if you come up with the most fantastic product & hide it in a closet who will buy it? Yes I'm over simplifying but trying to make a very basic point.

A simple question to ask ourselves. With all the negative press why has this stock performed so well in the last 7 months? With the economy in the tank Sirius Xm is moving up stream against the current, which makes me believe there is some real meat on the bones of this company. If we believed evrything written this stock should have died 7 times. Maybe the dog logo should be changed to a cat?

  • When Should Sirius XM Implement a Reverse Split?  [View article]
"It's the economy stupid" that is not meant @ anyone in particular. Sirius is doing their part (a little marketing would be nice) but we can't fool ourselves. For the most part this comes to something out of the control of Sirius Mngt. which is of course the economy. If it should rebound (with jobs) then watch out this stock will fly. Know, if this economy drags on we will I think & hope at least reach the dollar mark before years end. The X-mass market could be a great help if some marketing is implemented, but I know they have to penny pinch, but sometimes you just have to spend money to make money. But if we should have an economic recovery w/ jobs, then this stock would be positioned to be one of the big winners!

  • When Should Sirius XM Implement a Reverse Split?  [View article]
Cos1000, I admit I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed but I'm trying to get a real detailed answer to a question. There are many countries that are bilingual which the English language is their second language. Do to the internet and the and the I-Phone appl. are people in most foreign countries capable (if they so choose) to buy a subscription to Sirius Xm. If so would this not open up a potential market that makes the US,Canada & Mexico combined a smaller market base than these other countries? If so would this not give a potential sub base of hundreds of millions instead of tens of millions in the future? It may be a naive question but I'm curious enough to ask.
