  • Sirius XM at Work - Largest Pool of Potential Subscribers [View article]
Get those 20 million idle radio's turned on!!! With Oct 6th's "Best Of Both" Sirius Xm should power up all the 20 Mil. radios as a promotion to get back past listeners with the new added content and also give the other part of the idle radios w/ new owners of these used cars a taste of the great content! Turn them on for a short period of time and let them hear what they are missing. It would cost far less than the $100 or so it cost Sirius Xm to put a radio in a new car. But it has to be done now & with fanfare. Get your talent on the streets of Mahnhatten to get the free press. Get Stern & others to make the circuit of talk shows. Don't they have a stake in the company? Mel, You won the merger war, so why not have a party of celebration for all to see and hear. I'm outside looking in, and your silence is sending a negative signal to Wallstreeet. Beat them at their own game, outdo teir negativity with your HUTSPAH!(hope i spelled that right). 10% of 20 mil. alone would get you what you expect for all of 2009!

  • Why Is Sirius XM Radio Stock Going Down? [View article]
Vicar, I disagree. After 18months of fighting the FCC it took it's toll. Yes things have bottomed at this point. But they won the battle and control the national airwaves. They have not won the War yet, but they will. The confusion to the consumer and the companies themselves was overwhelming! Give them a break and some time and you'll see a dramatic turn around. Yes, on paper everyone's down huge, but it's gut check time and I'm in and will buy more shares.

  • Why Is Sirius XM Radio Stock Going Down? [View article]
Well, Short term looks Bleak. Mel was way to conservative and his voice had a nervous tone to it. But I feel the good news is the product is great and when the confusion to the customer is cleared up then sales will rise. I know once this happens in the 1st quarter 09, everyone will jump on the bandwagon (including Cramer). If you really need the money then you have to sell. If you don't your'e downside risk is very little now. I can see this stock being worth $20.00 in a couple years. This product is just too good and most people are not sure what it's all about. Once it's made clearer thru great marketing sales will skyrocket. Once it's in your car you feel lost without it period.

  • August Auto Sales Signal Stability for Satellite Radio Investors [View article]
I still believe that going after the idle sat radios in the USED car market(both market & after market radios) must be a priority. The upfront cost to intall the units is FREE, O, ZILTCH how can you compete with FREE! I'd love to know how many pre-owned cars w/ sat are out there. It takes seconds to turn these units back on. That market is growing as fast as they are selling new cars.

  • Leave Sirius Alone! [View article]
If you were caught in quick sand wouldn't you grab at anything that could save you? My kingdom for a horse! Sorry NAB you can't stop the cream from rising to the top. A little corny but you get my point.

  • July Satellite Radio Retail Sales Down but Better Than Expected [View article]
Tyler, I can't fathom not going after the used car market. The radios are already there. No investment on hardware for the consumer or the Sat. providers part. It takes about 5 minutes to activate via phone & credit card.
How many previous owned vehicles w/sat radio are out there? I'd love to know that number. How many million? Go after that market via TV or FM, give an incentive. It has to be a no brainer. (can you give us the number of used cars w/ sat radios?)

  • OEM Math Leaves Room for Upside Surprises for Sirius XM [View article]
Must find a way to get the consumers who are buying used vehicles that are equipped w/ sat radios. The hardwares already there at no cost to Sirus Xm. Everyday there are thousands of used cars being sold. Give them a free month or two to try it out. I bought a used honda for my daughter and when we got it home I called and had the Sat. Radio on in a cuple of minutes. A real no brainer.

  • Sirius Retail Sales Questions Left Unanswered [View article]
I was in Best Buy ib Warren, Ohio and asked the young salesperson about what type of offerings to expect due to the merger. He was pretty much clueless. I filled him in on some details but he was not at all up to speed(not good). I then went over & talked to the installation dept. manager and he reported that they were still doing a decent amount of new intalls on both Sirius & Xm. Actually he stated that was keeping them busy mory than any other type of car audio installations. So at least the consumer knows enough or doesn't care, they just want it know!

Tyler, I'm very puzzled on the comment that the interoperable radios won't be installed in new vehicles for 3 years. I find it hard to believe that this time frame can't be shortened. You have GM working feverishly to get the Volt to market for 2010, but can't get a new radio device in cars till 2011. This still puts the consumer on hold for 3 years. You can fight the buracracy of Washington DC but can't overcome this so important timing issue. It's saying to the consumer that the merger (in the auto industry) is still 3 years from completion. What's your insight to overcoming this problem. I know a lot of readers are wondering the same thing. This passing comment by Mel was a punch in the gut!!! Please try to respond, Thanks!

  • Satellite Radio: Betting on Used Cars [View article]
Still not sold on your take of the used car market. My I bought my daughter a used Civic that had an after market Sirius radio. Since I already had one in my car I thought it was a no brainer. I recieved the family discount of $6.95 pr mnth. So I called Sirius from my cell while I was in her car and within a couple of minutes "Wham" she was activated. Hardly any cost to Sirius at all! But I knew about it being an existing customer. Making a new used car owner aware of the fact or with a small Sirius Xm incentive I think they should jump on this ASAP. Instead of costing the company to get customers they have a source to get "FREE" customers. As Mel has said in the past "It's tough to compete w? Free". Why let those millions of units sit idle?

  • Satellite Radio vs. the Competition [View article]
Great overview. Clears up a lot of questions of where sat radio is positioned. I would stress to Sirus Xm the importance of the options that are offered with different manufacturs recievers. My daughter's older reciever does not have "playback memory or favorite songs & artist alerts". Totally differant experience! These options are a must. These are not minor points they are major. It is actullay fun to hear the artist/song alert to see what song is in the offing.

  • Loading Up for Some Sirius Gains [View article]
No doubt it's "gut check time". Been a stockholder and subscriber for 4 years. Took some big hits. But I love the product and so does my wife my 21 year old daughter and also my 18 year old son. They actually argue over who takes the car w/ sirius. I bought @ 7,6,5,4,3,2 and now 1.50. When you talk to others that have it, most are hooked. I'm buying @ 1.46 even if I have to borrow! You can't blame Mel for the FCC taking so long. Bottom line we won the war and reconstruction has just started. It's a new day!

  • Satellite Radio Merger: It's All Up to Tate [View article]
I hope this finally happens! But what about the talk of the NAB trying for an appeal to stop the merger. If Tate votes yes, are we out of the woods? If the appeal sticks and can hold off the merger till a new administration takes over will the new commissioners of the FCC vote the same way? Not if the new admin. is Democratic! Again I'm a fan of the merger but am worried about this possible play by the NAB. Does anyone have any knowledge on this appeal process? Hope it has no teeth.
