Satellite Radio Merger: It's All Up to Tate
I hope this finally happens! But what about the talk of the NAB trying for an appeal to stop the merger. If Tate votes yes, are we out of the woods? If the appeal sticks and can hold off the merger till a new administration takes over will the new commissioners of the FCC vote the same way? Not if the new admin. is Democratic! Again I'm a fan of the merger but am worried about this possible play by the NAB. Does anyone have any knowledge on this appeal process? Hope it has no teeth.

Why Did Satellite Stocks Head North Friday?
I love my Sirius radio and have talked to so many people that have sat. radio. Most say that they hate driving the other car that doesn't. I really hope the political "bs" is put to rest and the merger gets done. I can not phatom letting this new industry go to hell. The money, effort, risk and hard work put into this new medium should not have to take a step backwards. That step backward is possibly at cliffs edge. Killing the merger would be an over reaction on the FCC's part. It would be like throwing the baby out with the bath water.
I hope common sense prevails. If the merger passes that doesn't even get these 2 companies out of the woods. They would just be another player in the digital music & info market. The fact that the NAB is trying to stop this merger is the clear proof that they don't want what? Competition! They do not in any way shape or form have the consumers best interest in mind. The bottom line is if the merger should pass the consumer is still in control. If I don't like the content for the price I can cancel my subscription and listen to FREE radio.

XM / Sirius Under Selling Pressure
I think Mark Wienkes timing is great! This merger is not a done deal. This news is what the FCC needs to hear(read). I believe the merger still could get the thumbs down, but this puts pressure on the rest of the commisioners to vote for the merger w/o anymore strings attached. It shows the seriousness of this merger. They could kill Sat. radio if they don't get off their butts & get this passed. If it does pass Mel is the right man to turn things around. Don't forget that a lot of people are holding off to buy till they see the outcome. Things will take off if, and only if this merger gets done asap! If you think this merger is a done deal think again. This news only stregthens the case for the merger.

Sirius/XM Merger: What Happens if It Doesn’t Happen?
Thanksgovt, I'm in total agreement w/ you. It's wrong and it's upsetting. But that's what we should be yelling about. They are the number 1 reason this could fall apart. Forget the rest of the arguments and focus on this problem of the Georgetown Partnership. Let Mr. Martin know our feelings on this and we would have a chance at resolving the merger issue.

It all comes down to pacifying the Georgetown Partners. It's ashame but that's politics. They see an opportunity to steal band width in the name of being a minority owned group. I can see giving up bandwith to non-profit, but this is the log jam and could be the deal killer.

Cramer Positive on Sirus/XM Merger: Indicator of Actual Outcome?
The only hold up to this merger is the Georgetown Partners. They are using the race card to get a bargain. Sat. radio is very diverse already, but they see an opportunity to use politics to scare the FCC into making a deal to let them in on the cheap. Jessie Jackson is a very self serving man of the cloth. If you can buy your way to heaven he's got a cloud with his name on it!

Analysts Weigh in on Sirius Q4 Results
The Sat. Radio industry is fairly new and exciting. But by the time they decide on the merger it very well could be past it's prime. The NAB has had decades to put out a good product. Doesn't seem fair somehow. Guess that's par for the course when it comes to politics and money. Don't we want new industries to succeed?
