  • Sirius XM: There’s an App for That [View article]
Brandon, I agree w/ your outlook & potential for Sirius Xm's sub. base. The one thing this soured economy did was to frighten Mel & company enough to get them sooner than later to look to other avenues to sell their wares. Yes I do believe this new appl. & the Sky Dock are great start to a possible boon to the Sat Radio industry, but if you believe your words wouldn't you agree that sooner than later (X-Mass Season) you have to take the risk of spending marketing dollars. If Mel believes in the potential of this new revenue stream he has to get the wheels turning. So far bloggers have reported negative reports from Best Buy Etc. Let alone TV. They also need to educate the sales force at the retail level. The people selling in the trenches need to know their product! As an analogy, if you come up with the most fantastic product & hide it in a closet who will buy it? Yes I'm over simplifying but trying to make a very basic point.

  • Sirius’s SkyDock App Debuts on iTunes [View article]
Brandon, again I'm asking the question, can anyone in any country with internet access (and a credit card) that is aware of Sirius Xm become a subsciber or is their limitations of some sort in certain countries?

  • Sirius XM's Game Changer About to Rock [View article]
Oh, I think you are so wrong. Sirius Xm is going to be a staple for audio entertainment in its own right. It still is the best kept secret in audio entertaiment and the slow down in subs is due to a couple of events, one being the confusion & length of the merger and the other of course is the economy. The combined content bundled together is uncomparable to any other audio listening experiance. It of course is not for every one, but it will have mass appeal as time will tell. It's live, it's national (soon to be international)it's happening and it covers so many genres that I must beg to differ with your opinion. I also am for using the idle Sat. radios for going head to head w/ terr. radio w/ a sponsorship type limited format that also educates the listener to the offerings of a paid subscription. They due to belt tightening have not marketed the product the way it deserves, but hope to see more branding in the future.

  • Sirius XM iPhone App: Still Room for Improvement [View article]
content seeker, that doesn't surprise me at all. When I go into a Best Buy or a Circiut City(although they are now defunct) I would always question the sales people in the audio dept. about Sat Rad. and I would say that 75% of them new very little about the product. Who do you blame? If I was part of the marketing dept. of Sirius Xm I would give some type of incentive & training to these people (at least give some incentive for the sales people to have it installed in their own vehicles). These people are on the front lines with the potential customers as far as the customers perception they are the Sirius Xm person. They can direct you to the product and all it has to offer but they can also be the people to lose the opportunity to make the sell due to a lack of knowledge. It's basis sales 101 to know your product if your going to be able to sell it. This is a complex product do to it's clethera of offerings and it does require some form of training to sell it. This is true not just in the after market but also in the new & used car market. Hear say seems to be the market strategy of choice. This is a sad choice for such a high quality low cost product.

BRANDON, eatmeknow brings up a good point. With the new apple app. will subscribers be dropping their extra Sat Radios? Also is this why Stern, NFL etc. are not part of the new package? Could you give us your take on these issues. There is something to this.

  • What Will the Soon-to-Be-Released iPhone App Mean for Sirius XM Investors?  [View article]
Rick, great article. If anyone wants to read something that shows how strong the potential can be for Sirius Xm. pick up the latest copy (June 6th edition)of "The Economist" and read the article about Marty Cooper. Who's Marty Cooper? Marty Cooper was the main force that brought portable cell phones into our lives. If you get the chance to read this article it will open your eyes to give a glimpse on where we are headed in the tech arena. After reading about this amazing individual you can get a feel for the potential of a company like Sirius Xm. While this article doesn't even mention Sirius Xm, if you have any forsight you will be able to connect the dots and start to see a bigger picture of where companies like Sirius are heading. Very exicting & interesting stuff!

  • How Sirius Can Ensure Success for the New iPhone App [View article]
As I posted on this article @ Sirius Buzz, I think it's a great idea. You'll reach more potential customers and w/ the great content that's the bottom line. The more access to Sirius Xm the better. That's another reason to turn on all the idle radios w/ a free commercial based "limiteded" format. The simple idea is to try to raise advert. dollars and more important give a taste of the great content of Sirius Xm out there so create more opportunities to bring people on board as paying subs. You would automaticly be reaching 10 - 20 million people and that is what they call "marketing"! If you believe in your content/product, why wouldn't you want to get it out there to as many people as possible. God knows there is no marketing strategy, unless they are using "The Stealth Marketing Technique". They may think it's out there but it's not on anyones radar.

  • What Good Will the iPhone App Do for Sirius XM?  [View article]
Brandon, while you again are on the money when it comes to Stern, Sirius Xm has to reach out to more than just the Stern fans. As you stated Sirius Xm offers so much more than just Howard. Yes he has a great loyal following but to put most of your eggs in his marketing basket is a big mistake. He has become synonymous w/ Sat Rad, but it would be so short sided to keep making him the nucleus of the marketing scheme. It's time for Sat Rad to elevate to a much higher plateau. Keep in mind he is also viewed as a negative to just as many (if not more)people who love him (I’m not passing judgment, just making a point). More of the same old same old is not going to get the job done. Sirus Xm has to come out into the sunlight w/ a whole new marketing strategy. I do believe the positive & negative press Sirius received when Howard came aboard put Sat Rad on the map. But that is just now a segment of the Sirius Xm story. It's time to move on by reaching out to consumers from all backgrounds & interests. People already know where to find Howard; let’s start marketing to the masses. Sirius Xm's content has so much more to offer and moving forward getting that fact out should be job 1. I by no means am I saying to exclude him in the marketing scheme but the time has come to shed light on the rest of the programming.

  • Apple, Internet Radio Will Not Cancel Out Satellite Radio  [View article]
Simplicity of access to Sirius Xm's content at a reasonable price. Valid arguments on both sides. But GINO is right Sirius Xm is here to stay! The economy is the set back more than anything for all business. There is room for compitition and always will be, but the content is the heart beat of Sirius Xm. Not easily duplicated and will always will be working on improving, that's job one! With changing tech. almost daily the one anchor that stabilizes Sirius Xm is simply CONTENT. If you have an audio media company that could reach everyone very easily & inexpensive but had not much content why would I want to be a sub. There is such a loyal fan base of Sat Radio and it still is in it's infancy and most of all it is still for the most part an unknown product that is not comprehended yet by the potential consumers. The more I think about it I feel they are waiting for some stronger signs of an economic turn around before coming out with a a strong marketing campaign. They may see it as money wasted if consumers are short on cash. In years to come it will be one of the top growing companies in America period.
