Sirius XM Long Term Investors Will Make a Good Deal of Money - Gabelli [View article]
Yes, first and foremost it was a positive outlook on Sirius Xm. What I notice about us bloggers as a whole is that we want it now!!! We have to look at the big MACRO picture. You have to learn to crawl before you walk , and walk before you run. We have gone from the crawling stage to the upright walking stage. Sirius Xm is poised to be heading to the running stage. Keep in mind you can run only so fast in these economic times. Again as I have stated in the past, Sirius Xm has done quite well during this year of economic turmoil. So lets stop for a second and think rationally. What to you think will happen when this economy turns around? Do you think it will help this company catapult to a new level? I would think absolutely! But Sirius Xm does not control the MACRO ECONOMICS, so be patient this model is getting more & more analysts blessings and Satellite Radio is here to stay. But you won't see huge gains until this economy gets truly back on track. With that being said, watch out when it does turn around because the multiples will grow as the S/P grows because the companies fundamentals will grow and as their nature the analysts will jump on the band wagon and there will be a feeding frenzy on Sirius Xm. How far off? Again the big picture has more to do with when the economy turns around. So the frustrations of us all will continue as we bicker with each other but no matter what side you take (cheerleader or naysayer) we are all on the same side (except for a couple of moles) and if the economy cooperates wee all will be patting each other on the back for sticking out this hike up this long winding uphill road to paydirt.

What Is the Motivation Behind Negative Press on Sirius XM? [View article]
Pythagosaurus, you are a genius. Boy you hit the nail right on the head!!! The only problem with your comment there are 18,500,000 subscribers (is that what you call a few) that must like to pay for crap content, such as myself! Go back to watching re-runs of" Mr. Roger's Neighborhood. Where are you coming from. Time to move out of your parents house.

If this economy did not tank I would have to give a rough guess that Sirius Xm despite the year and a half time frame to get the merger thru would be at about $4.00 s/p at this point and time. If you consider what the failing economy did to auto sales and do some fast math (which includes the higher interest rates Siri was forced into). But the silver lining is they survived and the partnering of John Malone seems to be the fuel needed to put the stock back in a higher orbit. Everything is falling into place, just need the economy to cooperate.

The Media industry that relies on advertising dollars is hurting in a big way. That is why Comcast is able to buy a majority share of NBC from GE. The pay for Media is who is in the drivers seat! Just like w/ cable & satellite TV Sirius Xm has one thing those companies don't a monopoly on the pay for audio media. I think I would rather be in their shoes than the NAB group of companies. Why do you think they fought against the merger with everything they had. Sirius Xm is in a great position from here on out! The stock analyst are starting to realize that Siri has won not just the battles but the Media War on digital audio news & entertainment. You can argue all you want but the fact is Satellite Radio is the winner and is the future of Audio Land. Oh by the way Pell, yes I'll be paid by Sirius Xm shortly, when my stock keeps rising.
What this article was about was the analyst turning more positive on Siri. Since this piece was published on November 20th, TWO more of the 14 analyst that follow this stock for Jaywalk have changed their positions to a more positive position as follows: DEC 1st NOV 20th Strong buy 2 Strong Buy 1 Buy 3 Buy 3 Hold 7 Hold 8 Sell 0 Sell 0 Strong Sell 0 Strong Sell 0
Most all analyst consensus from different agencies across the board have raised their ratings on Sirius Xm in the last couple months. Take it for what it's worth.
Google, King of All Trades, Rick A. wrote an interesting piece on Worldspace & John Malone and how it could affect Sirius Xm on a positive international basis!
Jerrold W, I respectfully disagree. We have to keep in mind when someone buys a used car equipped w/ a sat rad (factory or after market) does Sirius Xm have the contact of the second owner? Most likely they do not. Also keep in mind people have moved or have changed E-mail addresses. It's a fantastic promo idea!!! There are almost as many idle radios as there are active, so why not go after this strong number of already paid for hardware. Again the concept of the promo idea is very strong but it comes up very short on implementing the marketing. We are talking millions upon millions of idle radios. We look at each quarter and hope to be on the plus side after churn etc. What don't we or I should say Sirius Xm understand? These idle radios are already paid for and it cost virtually nothing to turn them on, which they are doing. But if you think even half of the people that own these idle radios know of this promo and that their radio in their car is activated your being naive and so is Sirius Xm. Sirius Xm could put a catchy large ad in say "USA TODAY" and spread the word to turn it on and try it out. Very disappointed on letting a great idea sit somewhat idle like the radios! Sirius Xm is a secret society and we are part of it and we live in our own big bubble looking at the stock's trend and other data but running a business model and marketing your great wares is basic fundamentals of a business. The stock price will take care of itself but if done right, but Sirius Xm and most of us don't see the forrest because the trees get in the way!

Brandon, I noticed no reply on your part on my earlier comments I made today. If you think I'm bashing your site you are way off. This site is where people who are up on Sirius Xm obviously go to. What I'm trying to get across is that the Sirius Xm community (the company, bond holders, stock holders and fans) are well aware of Sirius Xm. But this great PROMO is not worth as much as it could if it were to be taken out of the closet and put in front of the publics face. Some marketing dollars have to be spent or else this great promo won't have the legs it needs to come to its true fruition. Then the next time someone brings up this promo they'll say why do it again it failed. You of all people should be writing a piece on this subject. You've stated in past blogs that you are for this idea. If you are our voice to Mel, which you have his ear, I ask you to put out an article that shows the short comings of a great idea that is not hitting on all cylinders! It is great to turn on all idle sat radios, but I think it would be nice if they put the word out to the general public. I have not even heard about on Sirius Radio!
Brandon, I'm still surfing the internet and can only find one article beside yours bringing to light the promo turning on all sat radios & the $20.00 for 5 months. The idea is fantastic but the backing of the promo is week at best. I think you should not just think like most of us that because we read about it on Satwaves that the rest of the nation knows about this promo. We all are insiders, what about the people that do not follow Sirius Xm? What about the aftermarket installed radios and sold used cars w/ Sat Radios how are they going to know about this great concept? Fantastic idea, but no strength behind this. When will Sirius Xm & ourselves learn we live in a Sirius bubble and take for granted what we know and don't put ourselves in the shoes of the average consumer.
Say what you will but if Rick M. Sees that if you can't beat em join em then that's a positive no matter how you slice it. We all complain when we feel we are being bashed by the media and some analysts unfairly, rightly so. But when some one shows a change of mind by seeing the proofs in the pudding I'm all for it. If Cramer came out tomorrow (which he won't) and said I think I made a mistake on Sirius Xm and endorsed the stock we all could be mad as hell......on our way to the bank! I'll take any "Johnny come lately" or even Jimmys,Rickys etc.

R.M.@ Motley Fool has been changing his tune about Sirius Xm. He seems to be seeing the positive light by coming out w/ a more positive outlook recently. He may becoming a believer. He definitely is a WITNESS to all the positives coming out of the reports coming from within Sirius Xm. His blinders must be slipping off his face. He has said that he thinks Sirius Xm is poised to be one of the big winners when the economy turns around. If he's coming over to the Sirius Xm side I would like to welcome him aboard!

During these tough economic conditions this concept could help this "Luxury" be more affordable by more consumers that our not able to pay the full price at this time. But get them on board so when times hopefully get better and they have more discretionary money they very well would move up to a higher tier. This would also put more of a strain on the NABers and I truly believe Wall Street would react in a positive way due to this aggressive strategy if implemented by Sirius Xm.

Did not have time to listen to the conference call, but I'm hoping that Mel is looking at firing up the Idle radios (as he mentioned something on this earlier) on a lower level tier of some sort for of course, a lower sub plan. I would hope that if this is the case that this format would have Sirius Xm promo's peppered in to educate the low tier on what they are missing by not ponying up to a higher tier. If you can get a sub @ 3.95 for a radio that is just wasting away and w/ the benefit of using as a marketing tool why would you turn away from this concept. If you picked up 2 million subs (Just 10% of all idle radios) @ 3.95 that's almost $95,000,000 added revenue per year. Not bad for a marketing strategy that cost little and pays you back 95 MILLION with also the potential of moving the low tiered sub to and higher tier!!!

This is great news today! This more than proves that if & as this economy recovers Sirius Xm is in the front of the line to see the S/P take off. As bad as the economy is, it is rather amazing that Sirius Xm is one of the stronger perforimg stocks over the last 6 months. Yes content is KING and once the job market comes back more consumer discretionary dollars will be available which bodes well for Sirius Xm. The number of subs that are holding strong thru these trying financial times tells the story. Read the news time line of this company, it proves that the merger & the economy were the only reason for the slow up of new subs. With deeper penetration in the auto market, internet access and more product awarness from the upcoming marketing campaign we will look back at the last 2 years as a temporary road block that was out of the companies control. We will see growth in the upcoming months & years to come which will give the company the advantage to make their content even better due to operating from a postion of strength not only from a financial footing but also from potential content knocking on their door wanting to be a part of this future mamoth audio provider.
