      General Discussion on IBM
In MHO now is the time to BUY IBM which is now almost 10+ points down from its high of 130 established a few months ago. It seems very odd that IBM would dramatically drop almost 10 + points based on DELL's current poor performance. Apparently some of the analysts seemed to forget that IBM sold their PC business to Lenovo a few years ago and therefore DELL in no way can be compared to IBM. Yes the dollar is gaining strength in Europe but IBM has always in the past managed to minimize any negative effects when the dollar has gained strength thus minimizing the negative effect of a strong dollar on IBM's bottom line. I still see IBM closing close to $140+ when IBM reports their 2008 Financial Report sometime in the middle of January 2009. Regards from Joe from Maple Glen

Kevin Maney, are you inferring Google spends more money on Research and Development than IBM? How much money has IBM spent on R&D in the last five years? How much money has Google spent on R&D in the last five years? How many patents has IBM received in the last five years? How many patents has Google received in the past five years?

In the last five years IBM has diversified very well on how it spends its money. IBM has increased Dividends to IBM shareholders. IBM has purchased many companies to support and augment its product line. IBM has spent a great of money on R&D which resulted in being awarded numerous patents and which resulted in innovation and enhancement in its products and yes IBM has spent a great deal of money to purchase back its own shares which has increased shareholder value. Enough said!

Wake up Kevin and remove your blinders and look at the entire picture!
