  • Why Isn't Paypal More Successful? [View article]
What are you, a spokesman for Paypal? This about the most useless blog that I have ever read. We don't really care how you check out when you shop, and it's pretty pathetic that you would value a loser like Paypal so much in your life that you would feel the need to tell the world how often you use it to check out.

So, for your info, most people avoid Paypal like the plague, because Paypal IS the plague. Wait until the first time they freeze up your account for no apparent reason, or put a hold on some payment you're waiting to receive "for further investigation", which usually turns out to be bogus, and is just a way for them to collect more interest on YOUR money. Wait until you buy something from a bogus Paypal merchant and Paypal refuses to work with you, forcing you to bypass PP's claim system to do a charge back through your credit card company. But, oh wait...from the sound of your article, you don't back your paypal purchases with a credit card, you draft payments from your bank account. Bad idea! Because, you see, if you pay for an item with funds in your paypal account or a draft from your bank, and Paypal rejects your claim, then you just lose your money outright. So, just a suggestion, but I would recommend you start backing all payments with your credit card, because given the chance, Paypal will screw you in a heartbeat.

This has got to be the saddest, most poorly written, and desperate advertisement for a second rate money mover that I have ever seen in print.

  • The Name 'Kijiji' Isn’t Cutting It for eBay [View article]
I have to agree that I'm tired of hearing the bonanzle plug, as well. I tried doing some shopping on that site to get a feel of it before I decide to sell there. Plus, since I don't shop at ebay anymore, I thought it would be a good way to give a sale to a new bonanzle seller. Well, I have to tell you that it was the worst shopping/browsing experience I have had in a LONG time! If I can't find what I need as a buyer, why on earth would I try to peddle my wares where nobody will ever see them?

So, it's free to list there - big deal. The FVF fees are just as much, or in several cases, MORE than those on ebay, particualarly for small ticket items. But WAIT, your items won't sell there anyway, so it's just awesome that listing is free. What a savings! Plus, the fact with larger ticket items that ship at higher shipping rates have the shipping cost (minus $10 of course) calculated into you FVF amount. Now, come on, if ebay tried to base your FVF on any part of your shipping cost, you people would have a fit - but, somehow, it's okay for Bonanzle to do it, because after all, listing is free.

Currently, it's just another site for sellers with little to no buyers. Bonanzle management refuses to advertise the site in any way, because of course, the sellers are doing such a good job plugging it in every blog they can find, and that is all the advertisement they seem to need. However, I've yet to do a google search and have bonanzle items come up anywhere.

While I wish Bonanzle sellers all the luck, and do hope the buyers will soon follow, it gets tiring to see folks constantly claim that bonanzle is the new replacement site for ebay. It's not now, and never will be.

  • Suggestions for eBay 2.0 [View article]
Scott, I write this after reading only the first couple of paragraphs of this installment, so I may comment again after reading it, but I have been following this series, and you have had my full interest and certainly my support.

I have never been a fan of yours, as in the past, the majority of your writings have been so pro ebay that they could sicken even the ebay trolls. However, in this series, you have presented the ugly truth through hard facts and proven data. I even raved about it to my husband who is ebay-tarded, but listens (with not much interest, but with loving support) to my blatherings regarding ebay's downfall.

I just wanted to say kudos to you for sharing this series and presenting the cold hard, fact proven truth, without once hitting below the belt. I realize it's hard for the ebay supporters to look truth in the face and be forced to face facts, but the simple truth is what you have presented here IS based on 100% truth and hard data.

Now, if only we could get ebay to read it?! HA! Dreaming, sorry. Once again, great job and many thanks!

If self-mutilation and self-destruction are considered a strategy, then I guess ebay's really got it going on!

  • Life After eBay: An Interview With Meg Whitman [View article]
I forgot to add that Ms. Whitman's comments about niceness being only for housewives and certain profressions to be rather crass. And, I'm SURE that the reason her husband stays away so much is NOT because of his busy schedule, but because he just can't stand her...much like the rest of society!

Listing counts have shot up?? How do you figure "shot up"? Let me guess..ebay told you this?? Please get facts straight, as they are barely breaking even with this "listing event". I'm sure that ebay did not report the 1/2 million fraudulent listings, either, did they now?

  • What Ever Happened to eBay's _____? [View article]
I found it to be extremely truthful. Ebay is burying itself - putting more and more pressure on their sellers to perform, however, they cannot live up to their own standards. This company is on a downward spiral whether you choose to identify it or not.
