    last winter-spring we planted and will now harvest one of the largest plantings of corn in human history. there is no corn shortage, only speculation of one. who benefits most from bad-mouthing the ethanol expansion effort? by keeping our production down? follow the money trail. US Sugar Inc in florida is shutting down operations as natural dietary sugar demand drops. why not then use the cane for ethanol a la brazil? you tell me.

    MS needs some fresh air, regardless of B's performance. Even if he had been "good", change is needed. Gates leaving is a great opportunity to heap more change on everyone and replace Ballmer. It's not like he will ever again need a job (or his grand kids).

    Microsoft united the desktop OSs and to a large part SMB servers. The pulled developers kicking and screaming into new generation/Object programming, and Vista has more under the hood than browser-people can comprehend. Too bad it is so under appreciated by those-that-don't-get-i...

    If we had a dozed different desktops and office apps, we would also have the devisive chaos of the 60s, 70s 80s, in computing. It wasn't pretty, not was it productive (as in $$$).

    I was part of the IBM HQ-area Services organization for some (too many) years. Anyone who can provide true value for the technology services dollar/euro can take a slice from IBM's pie as they certainly cannot do it, From an inside viewpoint it is an absurdly managed free-for-all of commissioned sales persons still hanging to the skirts of the big iron. Go for it Mr. Hurd.

    as a conservative independent, we have expressed our displeasure with gasoline compnies and their obsene profits to our leaders. if more do this, bush will be over-ridden. 100+ a barrel and no new refineries is almost treasonist. the green in these companies is unworthy of a free marketplace.
