  • New Residential Investment Corporation: Buy The Massacre?  [View article]
Not sure how much control NRZ has over the income from MSR's since they do not actually perform the service (I believe OCN does them). Does anybody know how much of their net income comes from the MSR's and how they acquire them.

Burnt bad when this "dividend safe" company announced the 2013 cut 2 months in advance. Think I'll avoid dumb management decisions.

  • Profit From The Biotech Craze: Long Gilead Sciences And Short Taro  [View article]
With additional players entering GILD HCV space there should be no doubt that profits will be impacted. For the most part, insurance companies have been covering the treatment and that has surprisingly favored GILEAD over ABBVIE. (which had a sole source with express scripts). However eventually, money talks and Merck will add yet another source. Granted, Solvadi is the better product for HCV but the insurance companies may force price war somewhere along the line. Meantime, enjoy the ride.....long GILD.

Is there any explanation why NRZ doesn't pay their next dividend with an x div date of 5/21 until 7/24?

  • New Residential Investment: Analyzing Future Earnings Potential After The HLSS Purchase  [View article]
Ever since NCT started making $$ on MSR's and then the spinoff to NRZ, I have always wondered what is preventing the companies that actually perform the work (OCWEN, Natonstar, etc) from acquiring the MSR's themselves, and effectively cutting out NRZ. Seems like lots of companies are making money off of the MSRs (FIG, NCT, and NRZ). Been assuming they have contracts or just the financial might to acquire them. Makes me a bit nervous but still long NRZ.

  • General Electric: A Big Move  [View article]
This AM on CNBC, Immelt made it clear that it is now "his" company so I guess we better get used to him. Unlike many of his past moves as CEO, this one seems well timed and shareholder semi-friendly (would be better if dividend was increased). With interest rates low in this yield starved environment that the fed created, the secured higher rate assets are probably worth more now than they will be worth after rates rise.

Been in and out of GE many times when the stock was going nowhere and unfortunately out for this pop. Anybody have any info on when we have to own the stock to take advantage of the distributions from the Sychrony deal?

Lots of crossed fingers for a stock the quality of GILD with a best in class cure for a widespread disease. Interesting that the largest population centers, China and India have not been mentioned for long term.

Found PSEC statements regarding spin offs with no further explanation a bit arrogant. Sounds like the proverbial carrot dangling.

  • Morgan Stanley Provides Some Sage Words On Gilead Sciences  [View article]
Lets not forget the rest of the world. Understand Gilead has agreement with Mylan (generic drug maker) to manufacture and distribute HepC drug at a significant discount in India (exclusive) and non-exclusive in Japan. Even though this will eventually erode the price of the drug regimen it will greatly increase the market for the superior HCV treatment.

  • Assessing Prospect Capital's Results For Fiscal Q1 2015  [View article]
Thanx for the excellent article. When the spinoffs occur and measurably priced, it could affect the way PSEC declares their dividends. I assume it is possible that spinoff shares will be offered to PSEC shareholders, thus reducing PSEC share values. They claim the spinoffs will be "unlocking" share value, so without being able to put a value on the spinoff assets it would seem difficult to declare dividends too far into the future.

  • Why There May Be Cause For Concern Over Seadrill's Dividend  [View article]
Anybody on this board know of any analysis of the impact of all the new oil and gas sources, particularly those in Canada and the USA (oil sands, horizontal drilling, fracking, etc., will have on future needs for more risky drilling operations such as the rigs provided by SDRL. Things are happening fast. In a couple of years the US is predicted be a net exporter. I am cautiously long on SDRL but only for the short haul.
