Forget $100 a Barrel - Oil Will Plummet to $30
The main advantage of fossil fuels is there relative ease of transportation.
We should be generating all US electricity from nuclear, which will increase fossil fuels supplies for other areas where they are best suited. Why are we burning up fossil fuels to generate electricity? Mainly because the environmentalists screwed the rest of us and while Europe was building reactors we were not building anything. All thermal power stations should be nuclear powered as this would be a great start at keeping dollars in America and out of OPEC

Natural Gas & Wind Power - The Pickens Plan
      Solar is erratic and unpredictable.
      Wind is erratic and unpredictable

Nuclear is continuous and environmentally friendly the companies to run reactors are U.S. and the uranium is in North America.

ALLLLLLLLLLL ELECTRICITY SHOULD BE NUCLEAR. with no gas, coal, or oil being burnt.

What about nuclear? It seem such a good answer. Then even maybe your local commuters would be able to use electric cars. Right now electric cars are not the answer because they still require fossil fuels to be burnt at the generators

Loss of Clarity on Chesapeake's Peak
One of the largest steering factors had to do with profit taking, and options expiring. The big boys steered the stock and took their profits coming and going. I believe one could almost ignore the past weeks as all energy stocks saw the same action. $70+ cleared the upper hurdles and low 50's cleared the other. The fundamentals have not changed and they make good money at $10.50 and they have billions of dollars sitting in the ground.

I think Google is making too much money and they need to start working on solar powered computers! Get real folks. A company should do what it does best and let the green companies of the world do what they do best.

      Oil Manipulations Exposed
Article was right in some areas but sounded like a pouting Democrat in others. Stick to facts and leave your political affiliation out of it and you would do better. Speculation is a big part of the problem, but so is a weak dollar, a Middle Eastern oil cartel, growing oil demand and peak or at least near peak oil production. Violence in Nigeria and third world governments who keep changing the rules, China, India, Mexico, Brazil, increased diesel consumption as compared to gasoline, increased plastic usage and increased fertilizer usage. The answer is not as simplistic as the author would lead you to believe.

Rep. Kanjorski's Unreasonable, Unconscionably Ridiculous Idea
Keep the government out of it and it will turn out better. The government has already wasted billions of dollars since the early 70's pushing energy policies in certain directions. When gas gets high enough, and people are hurting enough over the high prices (no I'm not heartless just practical) then the market will head in the best direction with the best technology. Government can never do anything more efficiently then free market........how are your grocery prices lately since the latest stupid government intervention. Trees got scarce and whale oil was used. When whale oil got scarce coal and oil came on line......see where this is heading. Quoting Ronald the ten scariest words in the English language are "I'm here from the government and I'm here to help." True if the middle east cuts off oil completely we'd be in a big hurt, but can they afford to do that?

Exxon's Record $9.32 Billion Q1 Income Taxes: Update
The stat that everyone is missing is the total monies paid to governments. In 2006 XOM had profits of 36B but paid 93B to governments. These are royalties, income taxes, property taxes.....you name the taxes. The hypocrites on Capitol Hill want lower gas prices but they make three times as much as XOM for doing nothing. XOM does all the heavy lifting and the lawmakers do nothing and get three times as much money and then blame XOM for high prices. If they cared about my pocket book they would lower taxes not raise them.

Ben Stein Watch: In Defense of Exxon Mobil
XOM paid 97 Billion in taxes and government royalties is 2006 with profits of 36 Billion. That is almost 3:1. This is what disturbs me. Obama says he wants to raise taxes on XOM. Does he not realize that all corporate taxes are passed on to consumers. If Obama or any other politician cared about my pocket book they would cut taxes on XOM.....and Wal Mart and Sears and Costco and Walgreens so their lower costs could be passed on to me. Raising taxes on the "big bad greedy corporations" is popular to most Americans, but what they are really doing is taxing themselves.....not XOM. By the way XOM had 400 Billion in sales and I think a ten percent return is not bad. There are also "hidden stockholders" of XOM that are benefiting. These are all the state and government retirement systems that invest in the stock market. Is your 401-k up? If it is some of the thanks goes to XOM.

      Renewable Energy: Approaching Grid Parity?
WOW. A bunch of good answers and all partially correct. Free market baby! Keep the government out of it! When gas gets too expensive people will start conserving and will naturally turn to new sources. Study history and you'll see necessity is the mother of invention. When politicians push an agenda the outcomes are not good. From the 70's on we have wasted money pushing renewable resources with no real advantages. All energy sources in the future will have a place and as oil gets more expensive and technologies of renewables gets cheaper........ people will change over without you, your senator or anyone else doing anything. Sit back and watch it happen and the trick is knowing what and when to buy.
