eCommerce Stock Pair Trade: Amazon vs. eBay
You are talking about one category, and it is a category that eBay trails in. What is the STR for buy as a whole?

This will put a lot of real paying eBay sellers out of business and then eBay will have nothing to fund the welfare program they instituted for these big box companies. That is when eBay will crash. Losing eBay sellers means losing the buying aspect of the seller him/herself and the buyers that are loyalty to the people they purchased product from. The decline in the variety of product (whether removed from the site or buried behind the free loaders) will cause a decrease in traffic and eBay's revenue from ads will decrease relatively and that goes the same for eBay's PayPal ruling e-commerce scheme also.

The most disturbingly sad reality is most sellers have no idea the massive amount of changes that have taken place and their significance and will be sideswiped and driven out of business as quickly as eBay's ban on electronic downloads hit. eBay really is being ran by a depraved sadistic management team- it is appalling.

"I do believe that downtrend is over and Ebay is now a good value stock for short term investment."

You believe this because of what?? I believe the downtrend is only about to free fall from an enormous cliff with JD's new recruitment of big box retailers they are moving in in October - who just like Buy.com will be enjoying the welfare paid for by real eBay sellers- eBay ride and get top placement because they don't have to preform to the new "DSR- whipping board". So the sellers who really have the variety are going to be swamped out by big box companies taking a free ride off the backs of the seller's they are literally stepping on. I don't even know how many of us will make it to November let alone to 2009. Does that mean the big box companies convert better? Nope! it means the buyer never bought because the couldn't find the items they wanted to buy.

Look at Buy.com - the STR is like 2% - 2% - what is the STR for a random 800,000 listings? I don't know I'm asking, but I'll bet it is a hell of a lot higher than 2%. Why don't you do some research and let us know. It's a good idea to research before you start making suggestions to people on where to put their money. Seriously that is just gross negligence to be so lazy and to tell people they can believe because you believe that eBay's downward trend is over- shameful really

Changes to eBay’s Pricing Plan Could Whack Shares by 20%
"As a component of a single sale, listing fees typically account for 50% of the cost to a seller."

Where did this estimate come from? Insertion fees are not 50% of the cost of eBay sells. Maybe if you used an accurate cost the shave would only be 10%. Drama and Journalism don't mesh well if you don't bother to look up the facts

If eBay lowered insertion fees and raised FVF even 1% it would have to exceed any price reduction that the free listing would offer. Most sellers understand that most often a higher price can be achieved with a BIN than an auction- that increase would more than cover the nickle, dime. 20 cents, or top price of a quarter for the BIN option. If these sellers fail to list a BIN to save at most a quarter when they could sell the item $2 at least more then I don't think free insertion is going to help those sellers.

Insertion fees are like nothing now compared to store FVFs that commission + PayPal + the store fee + picture manager these are what makeup the outrageous fees. With the speculation of FVF on shipping it is even more costly to go this route. As it is I have been considering getting rid of international selling, because the paypal fees are so high for international. I don't even charge full postage fees for domestic or international- nothing for materials- I already pay 3.9% + 2.5% thing + the 30 cents to paypal on that - I can't afford eBay to take 12% on international or domestic. These scheme of we'll give you a dime and we'll take 3 dollars is not going to get the job done in regards to getting anyone to stick around- frankly this will drives them away real fast

Q2 Predictions for eBay Business Segments
      @EbayObserver
Remember that the Q reports are not for eBay.com alone, the question is how long can eBay Inc depend on Paypal to hold up the company as a whole?? not to long if eBay.com goes down

      @User 222762
That is exactly what puzzles me too- why when the economy is so bad is eBay.com struggling- (the sellers know if it is struggling- those charts are worthless) - I would expect to see the auction format in full swing with people hope to get a steal, but they aren't. There are numerous auctions that don't sell with a 99 cent start, and some that sell for the the 99 cents. Why do you think this is?

Taking that even further - I find it very interesting that ecommerce as a whole is the only market experiencing growth currently, yet eBay is struggling- badly.

So what do you think is accounting for these unexpected outcomes?

Q2 Predictions for eBay Business Segments
Interesting analysis- what information - data did you use to come to your conclusions?

Tell me- does it matter if listing count is up when conversion is down- substantially? It is the FVFs that eBay makes the bulk of their money from not the listing.

Tell me- if 3% + of all "sold" items result in a bidder not paying does it sill have positive results for eBay's strength?

How well do you think PayPal will fare when eBay goes under? The reality is paypal is entirely dependent on eBay. They have only managed to permeate the market outside of eBay because of eBay users having PayPal accounts. What is going to happen when these sellers on eBay leave and don't accept paypal - only use google checkout or merchant CC accounts?

If eBay.com goes down eBay Inc will follow every holding, subsidiary, sister/daughter company they have is dependent on eBay.com. Shopping.com is nothing and eBay is putting links/ads for shopping.com on eBay- directly competing with eBay.com auctions- why? because eBay.com is all they have- without us they lose everything.

The loss of sellers= loss of buyers (both the sellers and their customers) is significantly affecting eBay.com - less traffic because of less products, result in more sellers moving on- eventually (and coming on strong) eBay will wither and will no longer have the traffic to bolster their other entities.

It is stunning how analysts- columnists- commentators all fail to really look at the whole picture before they foolishly write this BS.

eBay Management and Sellers Need Relationship Advice
I love that last analogy- yes this isn't your typical marital spat that you have had one to many of. This is a down and dirty all American brawl leading and continuing on through the final moment of utter dissolution when the two party's walk away in opposite directions and the kids are left crying on the side- with no where to spend their money.

Sure dad will do fine for a while - living the high life briefly- then one day he'll wake up realizing that he has lost all that made him good. This will lead him to begin boozing it up making a spectacle of himself- until after a few month maybe a year he dies of cirrhosis

By the time the last breath was drawn mom had been promoted was making an even higher income because dad wasn't around stealing out of her wallet, and the kids had all turned on him disgusted with themselves for ever have trusted him over mom. That disgusting pig!

Of course the mom could use another popular method - staying on in the marriage with an oh so satisfied look on her face while she quietly yet aggressively sets up house else where. Also, to avoid tension with the kids over their feeling she betrayed them by hiding it until suddenly it was packing time, she slowly brought them into the new house with her and they've told friends about the new house and their friends have started visiting all the time. Then when the time was just right she tells her wife beating husband to go to hell.

Due to his no longer having a beating post he starts binge drinking and unexpectedly dies of alcohol poisoning.

eBay Bares Its Ugly New Face
Boycott - and move on - here is where I am stting up

Well, I think it’s time to talk about Wagglepop as it is the best eBay alternative site available. From its clean presentation, its very competitive pricing: For only $9.95 a month you get your own fully customizable store (with your own url, custom pages, header, logo, business builder tools: such as Red Carpet, and unlimited free store inventory listings)

Not only are store inventory listings free - auction and fixed price listings are as well- so load up the store and then load up the floor for maximum traffic generation and sell thru rates- no one is holding you back on Wagglepop

Worried about those commission fees? No need - cheapest commission take I’ve seen - and over all lowest cost auction house start up I’ve come across. Sell an item for 9.99 pay a quarter ($.25) in commission- wow! And how much have we been paying? Disgusting!

I know it’s fabulous- how could it possibly get better? This is how- wide open spaces. Yep, ready to stake claim in your desired niche? Tired of being one of a million competitors? Are you ready to be the foundation of the niche? This is your moment- you better jump or someone will beat you to it.

What else is blooming in Wagglepop? Community, unity, solidarity. Is there a better way to grow than to have support from those who are growing beside you? Nope! The stronger one becomes the stronger we will all become, because we will be there to share, tug, and glorify our triumphs together.

So, what was Wagglepop’s appeal to those of us who have already decided this was the place to be for success?

      A few of Wagglepop’s community members -

      Dave’s Gift Line
Well I came to wagglepop looking for a new place to sell. Once I joined and looked around I noticed how easy it was to get around the site. Then I went to the forums and saw how helpful everyone was and that was it.

I opened a store and started listing all in the same day. I have always wanted to have a bigger store however when I was at the other site I couldn't list as much because I was always worried about how much my listing fees were going to be. I averaged approx 80 to 120 items listed at any one time on the other site and was always worried if this item doesn’t sell I am out money. But now on wagglepop I can list as many items as I want to I can give my customers a wide selection of merchandise and I can give them better deals. I already have over 300 items listed and I am still listing.
So now I can have the store I always wanted but could never have over on the other site.

      Boutique Baby Treasures and More
I guess the best draw to Wagglepop for me was just the site itself. The first time I saw the site, I registered and opened my store. No hesitation, didn't have to think twice. I was interested in replacing as much of my eBay business as possible on a site with more reasonable fees. I could tell at first glance that Wagglepop would be a great place to try. It wasn't until later on that all of the other great things about Wagglepop became clear like the dedicated owner, excellent management, wonderful community that has developed, and the superior search engine exposure is another big advantage.

      Bernings Bargains- something for everyone
Hmmm... What attracted me to Wagglepop?

      1) Friendly, Helpful and Fun Community - always has been, no matter how many sellers come and go.

      2) The REASONABLE Fees... $9.95 is only about 8 listings worth on Ebay.

      3) The versatility of designing my own store front, pages, categories.

      4) The unlimited amount of inventory that I can put inside my store. No worries about getting charged more with each listing I do.

      5) Customer Service - Prompt replies from REAL people, answering the question I asked in normal English that I can understand.

      6) Seeing the WP Staff on the boards in a positive manner... answering questions, asking our opinions, and listening to what we say (even if they don't have the control or money to do everything we want them to.)

      7) Ease of listing ... set up your desired template, create a listing, then sell similar on every one after that ... so simple (once you get the hang of it...lol!)

      8) Just the name... WAGGLEPOP sounds like a FUN place to be. And although WP had some rough times starting out, and still have the Anti-WP people out there, we have gotten stronger and stayed friendly in spite of it all!

What else...? Oh yeah.... WAGGLEPOP ROCKS!
