Biotech in Review: Positive Consolidation in China Life Science Companies [View article]
I disagree with jturano, GNBT already has approval in India and some South American countries and will start sales. being in phase III is for the U.S and Canada and they have a proven product. Though there is some competition still working on products, some of the big pharmas have failed. Is the U.S. the only market in the world? NO and Generex should get their approvals. SciGen made a joint venture in essentially 2006. They are making a plant to produce insulin which Generex can obtain elsewhere if needed.
8 High-Yielding Stocks for Income Investors [View article]
I live in the U.S. and the tax code (as shown above) is sheer lunacy and must be done away with. It is astounding how much you have to deal with just to invest some money. Get rid of income taxes and use a VAT. I know this is not about the article but as the posts show, our government is insane.
I use Skype on a DSL line. I don't have regular phone service so i pay $5/ month for the DSL data line and another $40 for HS internet. With Skype out costing $30/year and internet costing the same with or with out Skype, its a good deal. Use Cell for incoming calls then switch to Skype to talk. Quality is great with drop rates better than cell phones.
Who's to Blame for the Commodities Boom? [View article]
Sliv812 is absolutley correct. There use to be a lot of discussion abou the world population explosion. Then it stopped about the time Bush 2 came to power. Why? Because some groups want to increase their numbers. Need proof? Look at Mormon families in the SW (5 to 10 kids per family). Look at illegal immigration. Look at poligamist sects. Population is power and religious and Mexican groups (in the U.S.) want that power. The U.S. is straining and there will be shortages, including water. Do we really want 450 million people here? I know I don't. On the issue of taking the opposite side if prices are too high, that suggestion is lacking in merit. Prices can go up on speculation for a long time due to greed. How else do you explain the housing crisis? The real problem is knowing if it is demand or speculation driving the price and when it will stop. There are too many people trading for profit instead of investing so speculation moves in a wave from one trend to another.
Walking Away: The Next Mortgage Crisis [View article]
I agree with Frogman. However, I don't see how all these people can find places to rent. Any house in foreclosure is not going to be rented so all who walk away will leave empty places unless someone buys them. I do believe that resets should only go to a market rate (maybe 6.5%) not some rediculous rate, this would save many. Leaving your house just because the value dropped is immoral. Do you leave your new car when you drive it off the lot? Finally, Bush and his neoconservative (do anything for business and nothing for people) administration is responsible. His is one job that should have been outsourced.
The State of the Thin-Film Photovoltaic Industry [View article]
XSNX is a startup that was not mentioned and will use their own equipment designs. They are not converting a building Oregon and they use thin film tech. Their overall efficiency is one of the best when including incident angle from non tracking installations. From my viewpoint, Xsunx can easily double or tripple while I don't know about FSLR doing that for quite a while. See this link for a comparative analysis of XSNX technology vs the others. www.xsunx.com/tech-ana...
Investing in a Resource-Constrained World (Part III) [View article]
What China needs is a community property law, like we have in many (U.S.) states. That would create demand destruction when the men figure out that marriage is mostly a farce to supply women with money. Of course most men here have not yet figured that out either.
It's Now 'Official': Ethanol Is a Scam [View article]
The article asks, So who is left out there supporting ethanol? Well farmers (and I don't blame them) and politicians. The question is not if we need alternative fuels like ethanol but only how we obtain them. President Bush will leave this country on the verg of disaster is most areas.
Policies like letting 4 million legal and illegal immigrants come to the U.S every year (uncontrolled population growth), unregulated mortage industry, untaxed religion, exporting high paying jobs and even promoting diversity are the seeds of possible destruction of this country. Every resource is becoming in short supply but when have you heard anything about controlling population?
Generex Biotechnology: Oral-lyn Buccal Insulin Takes Center Stage [View article]
I have been a long term invester in Generex. Any biotech investor needs a lot of patients to hang in. This is a superior product from a great micro cap company and its delivery system can be used for other drugs as well. Other companies like Generex are NNVC and NNBP. All have great potential for the long term.
When the Economy Hands You Lemons, Consider Dividend ETFs [View article]
For dividends, I use ADVDX mutual fund. The div. is much higher and they invest in a variety of companies which they can rotate. They also meet requirements for 15% max tax. So far I have not found anything better, except for a few individual stocks like FRO and PWE.
Jersey, you are correct and you will notice my post name as it says the same thing. Everyone is so sure of their views on commodities but there are opposite views. If the Chinese economy collaspes then commodity prices will go down, it not, they will rise. However, food is a necessity and it can't rise too high or people will starve and they will revolt. I would place my bets for the long term in oil, alt. energy, and silver. All will be needed and are presently becoming in short supply.
The Fed is Deflating: 10 Reasons Why [View article]
Perhaps its just me but like many articles I read, the end result is no real direction. So we will maybe have inflation or deflation or both. Do I buy more gold stocks? Is my money safe in a bank account? Will the stock market continue to go up or crash? If there will be price deflation, I want more cash. Mr. Bradley seems to say that with reduced credit and plenty of goods, that is what will happen (except for oil and food). While the author explains many things about credit and money I am again left in a state of confusion.
This is an excellant article (even with some small factual errors like volume) and Raser will be an excellant company. It has high efficiency motors for use in both industrial applications and hybrid cars. Efficiency is becoming the mantra of new design. As a former engineer at Dell, it certainly became the guiding principle for our work.
Geothermal energy is a great renewable source and Raser has made all the right moves to bring it into production. The author does state that Raser has not yet started electric production and this is known as they are building the plants now. I believe this is an excellant investment that should be held for long term gain. I am long in this stock.
Censors Take Down YouTube and Google News in China [View article]
The question is, should technology and information companies be complicit in a government's control of it's people? What would happen if the U.S. government had a news blackout for National security? It would probably work at least in the short term. Morally, Google should not help suppress people and be willing to get out if forced to do so. The WTO should clearly define what a company should do so that it is consistant for all members.
