How Apple's Market Share Will Propel Stock to $500, Part 1 [View article]
All good and well, one important point is that Apple targets high end segment and with 91%, there isn't much room to grow. How will Apple compete with Windows at the low end of spectrum if it choose do so? Will entry into low end machines threaten its dominance in the high end market.
Apple: Steve Jobs Is Fine, and We Still Hate Netbooks [View article]
Given the price of netbook is comparable to an iPhone, I guess they are not eager to get in the netbook market given it would probably take away business from its iPhone.
Netbooks have it place - hey I have 2 netbooks and replaced them when I got the iPhone. But, will use my netbooks should i need to do some typing!
State of the iPhone: Strong. Very Strong. [View article]
iPhone - truly a great "phone" - something I wanted several years ago and couldn't get. (Although I did try with iPaq to get similar results given the different quality of networks then.) Mobile computing, entertainment center, camera, photo album, storage device, etc. Adding a video camera and improving the battery live would make it perfect for me.

Good article.
One minus in apple laptops is price. For better specs a windows laptop costs less 30%, a huge difference. Like you wrote, most people grow up using windows. Although, ipod and iphone have made heads turn. Nokia, etc. still hold major market share.
It would be interesting should apple take a lower end or compete on price route instead of its premium only strategy.
Recession Takes a Bite Out of Mac Sales [View article]
Recession will take out bite from every business. How to compete in this recession is the key. Margin's will erode otherwise loose business. Sure, there die hard Apple fans and will buy apple only. To increase business Apple needs to compete with the cross overs with other pc makers. I consider myself as cross over from windows based to apple laptop, but costs of similar specs is 50% (+$500) more for an apple. Pretty steep in the current environment, hence my reluctance .
The iphone costs similar if not cheaper then other smartphones, hence a no brainer if you want an easy to use internet smartphone. So i got one. yes, does a great job of replacing my netbook, which does a great job of replacing my laptop.
Apple: Cheaper iPhone Could Bring in $7 Billion More [View article]
Without a data contact the iPhone does not offer any superiority over its competitors. Instead it is much weaker, there is no video calling, no video recording, no keyboard, video playing is hampered, etc.
Switching to mainstream phones would be against likes of Nokia, LG, etc., which is much tougher job. Unlike now where its main competitors are BB and HTC for the private users.
Having a wider product means a different business model unlike the current high end niche model. Also, it may loose its appeal to the high end users should cheaper products are introduced.
It's What Apple's Not Doing That Has Analysts Worried [View article]
Too much expectations is not a good thing. The launch of the iPhone has been very successful, most Apple and non-apple users willing and available will have already made the change to the iPhone. Available in the sense that most people sign up with carrier which has a contract of 12, 18, 24, etc. months and their contacts have ended.
What is missing is China has just issued its 3G license and the phone companies are ready to launch. China Mobile will sell the iPhone - the next major impact to iPhone sales??
The iphone is also a very good "netbook" with WiFi or 3G. I use it all the time around the house and on the go with WiFi for reading the news, watching youtube, etc. An additional keyboard may add to the need to do serious typing activities, but I have a HP netbook for these activities. So is there a need for a netbook from apple? If the iphone came out earlier I would have not resign my home internet contract nor bought the netbook. Just the iphone and 24X7 3G internet plan, plus a laptop for serious activities.
Only drawback on the iphone is no video recording, sound recording, video calls, etc. most items associated with a normal 3G phone.
iCar sounds good, but it will be more then filling cars with TV screens and iTunes. Using the latest non-carbon fuel technology would be crucial to its success. Apple could even buy its own small car plant from the detroit fallout if it could overcome the unions.
The venture into China is overblown as average monthly income in the cities is less then the cost of an iphone. The monthly costs for phone plus mobile internet is very expensive compared to home based internet and cheap phone package. Forget the rural area as the they just can't afford it!

Over reaction and probably a good thing to cancel expensive marketing events given the current environment. iphone is doing better then expected so where is issue? Good time to buy!?
