What Happened to Dell?

I agree with a lot of what is said about MS, but most software and hardware are made compatible with MS and not so much with other systems. This I found out when I bought a netbook with Linux.

Desktop may comeback in vogue due to costing less then a notebook and equal to netbook. Unless you need and really want a netbook a desktop is much cheaper. Just bought a desktop with quad processor and 20 inch monitor for a price of mid-end notebook or high-end netbook.

Recession Takes a Bite Out of Mac Sales

Recession will take out bite from every business. How to compete in this recession is the key. Margin's will erode otherwise loose business. Sure, there die hard Apple fans and will buy apple only. To increase business Apple needs to compete with the cross overs with other pc makers.
I consider myself as cross over from windows based to apple laptop, but costs of similar specs is 50% (+$500) more for an apple. Pretty steep in the current environment, hence my reluctance .

The iphone costs similar if not cheaper then other smartphones, hence a no brainer if you want an easy to use internet smartphone. So i got one. yes, does a great job of replacing my netbook, which does a great job of replacing my laptop.

Are Netbooks the Future of PCs?

The iphone is also a very good "netbook" with WiFi or 3G. I use it all the time around the house and on the go with WiFi for reading the news, watching youtube, etc. An additional keyboard may add to the need to do serious typing activities, but I have a HP netbook for these activities. So is there a need for a netbook from apple? If the iphone came out earlier I would have not resign my home internet contract nor bought the netbook. Just the iphone and 24X7 3G internet plan, plus a laptop for serious activities.

Only drawback on the iphone is no video recording, sound recording, video calls, etc. most items associated with a normal 3G phone.

Where Is the (Sector) Leadership In This Rally?

The financial sector will no longer be the same - no investment banks, hedge funds will be very different, trust in investment funds as buy and hold, etc.

Discretionary buys would come any time soon since confidence is very low.

Home builders - probably the worst of the three.
