Discover Financial: A Creditable Investment - Barron's [View article]
my only concern in your article was your comment that consumer spending might be recovering - if it is, it seems to be more of a debt add on right now than the processing of daily expenses via the convenience of cc use, and then paid off each month
i'm not sure adding to permanent growing debt will eventually help discover or the consumer, at least in a declining economy
we've used discover for both cc use, cd's, and money markets for many years, so this is not meant as a dig to them; strictly a comment re debt use at this time
re: "Cramer also noted strength in...diverse companies as...as further evidence that the market is beginning to turn. How’d they do it? Price increases....those price increases will stay put...." -
one question, how we gonna pay for all this with wages stagnant? :-)

really interesting - two things...
what is peg? ie, how is it important for this kind of transaction?
and
wouldn't it be wise to at least see if there's anything equity market-wise negative possible/probable on the horizon, then make a risk / reward decision?

you can add student loans to that now too (as per mish on his site)
fine w/me 'long as the fed'll take my old car and books (i don't want) and coins (that have "irrationally dropped in value") for their peak values (to return when the markets normalize) in exchange for treasuries

re the inverse etf's, aren't they sorta the transparency type answer you'd suggested needed at the beginning of the article?
so my guess, especially since the tally of how many is clearly know, and commissions are even more easlily collected, they'll survive
at least i hope so :-)
