  • Phase 3 NASH Trials: Genfit's Drug Will Beat Intercept's OCA To Market  [View article]
It is my opinion that once the phase III study is under way Gilead will move in and buy Genfit. It is just the type of company they look for. Large market for the drug nearing approval.

  • ADM's ethanol struggle reflects deepening industry woes  [View news story]
The biggest problem with eliminating ethanol has absolutely nothing to do with gasoline at all. Stop ethanol production or cut its use in gasoline and corn prices will collapse even lower than the current decade low price. Political pressure from ALL candidates will keep ethanol in use and in production for a long time. It was never a good idea but, since when does common sense and politics come together!

  • Why Gilead's Earnings Will Not Matter  [View article]
Re-importation may hurt drug companies but, it will hurt you, me and all citizens much harder. If drug companies cannot make money, and a lot of it, there will be a marked slowdown in drug development. The day may come then when a drug that could have saved many will not be available. Let's hope I am wrong.

  • Why Gilead's Earnings Will Not Matter  [View article]
It is a great deal for healthcare providers and governments but, no one will acknowledge that as long as there is political points to be made and voters to be bought with disingenuous hyperbole.

  • Gilead: There Is No Silver Lining To Zepatier, Time To Sell  [View article]
The biggest headwind that I see is not competitors to Gilead. Gilead is not alone in seeing their stock price decimated lately. Blithering political candidates pandering for votes have helped to crush nearly every big Biotech company over the last six months or so. The ironic thing to me is that no one ever counters the cost of these drugs with the current and future health care savings to the country but the elimination of long term care which is not needed after a cure. The total savings are many times over the cost of the drug regardless of the price. Are we better off as a nation paying the drug cost or continuing care for the millions of hepatitis patients? I think the answer is obvious except to the political hacks running for office.

  • AIDS group sues Gilead over patents as a tactic to gain access to HIV drugs  [View news story]
It disturbs me to hear politicians and special interest groups falling all over each other to disparage, coerce and litigate drug companies into greatly reducing costs of drugs down to nothing if they can. If they are successful the ultimate result will be less money invested in developing new drugs because the economics will not make sense. When I or my loved ones are in need of a life saving drug or treatment I want it to be there for us to have.

  • A Pre-Earnings Discussion Of Breaking News On Gilead; More Positives Than Negatives  [View article]
Thanks Doc. A well thought out and cogent article but, we have come to expect nothing less from you. Gilead's current stock is also tied to the general crushing of the biotech lndusrty. Just look at the IBB. I believe a patient investor will do just fine but, it will take patience!

  • Why I Remain Long Gilead Sciences  [View article]
Many believe that the lack of an acquisition or acquisitions is hold GILD around current levels. GILD management is very savvy when it comes to not overpaying for acquisitions. With the recent weakness in the biotech sector in general, I now expect to see GILD make a strategic deal or deals over the next 6-12 months. That should be a catalyst to get the stock moving higher.

You have it exactly correct Jared. A company buying in shares is fine only if it reduces the shares outstanding by an equal amount.
