  • How To Play The Natural Gas Revolution [View article]
You mentioned "production" and "pipeline Plays". LINE and LNCO are excellent bets on the production side, but what about the pipeline players? For the biggest and best you might mention KMP (KMI KMR) WPZ (WMB) as the major players. EPD (ENB), EEP (EEQ), and to a lesser extent BPL TCP. Companies in parenthesis are the non-MLP's per say. That is my playing space now. I am heavily investing in the transport sector KMI WPZ WMB KMP, adding to all the GP's and MLP's. I see a great future in strong, increasing dividends.

I am curious. You have been short NLY for at least one full quarter. I would appreciate an honest answer. How much in dividend payments did you have to cover so far.

Since I have held NLY and ARR I have collected over 33,000 in dividends with a nice 5-7% appreciation in stock price. That is just one years time.

  • A 'Damaged Culture' No More? An Investing-In-The-Philippines Reality Check [View article]
I have lived in the Philippines since 2006. I can say with a "local" perspective that the Philippines is getting worse by the day. Mostly due to food shortages, unchecked population growth, lack of infrastructure, rising violence to own people and foreigners, unending disasters, inability of government to cope with disasters, over crowding and homelessness (squatters), corruption in all levels of government and police, the list is endless. Why do I stay? Well, for one I have learned how to avoid much trouble, I have a great wife and good prospects for the future. I am however, looking for a more secure environment and will move from my residence of Angeles City, near former Clark AFB to a more suitable place. So in short, I would never invest any money in stocks of the Philippines. The best I can do, or feel comfortable with, is to give my wife money to buy land and try her luck at farming rice, onions and garlic; the three things Filipinos eat at every meal. So chances are my wife will do ok, as long as she only trusts her family and even then to be very careful of managing her land in the future. As for me, I am doing very well in the stock market with US securities only. Have tons of time to research my investments, and plenty of dry powder coming in every month to fund my stock portfolio. In 5 years or less, my income from my portfolio will exceed that of my Military retirement, VA disability and SSDI that I receive each month, and that is way cool...

  • Retirement Strategy: Dialing Up Team Alpha's Dividends [View article]
    Reim,

LINE is spending money to GROW business by buying up oil/gas properties, not spending for nothing like OBAMA. That is a really silly comparison. Ok, I will see your BAC and raise with my LNCO... See ya in one year from now. I might get back into BAC when BAC hits sub 7.00, with the latest lawsuits it should be a good buying opportunity for BAC...

  • Looks like another bad day for refiners on fears of increased costs from tougher standards on gasoline, even as BAML says yesterday's selloff of Valero (VLO -4.8%) was overdone. WNR -7.6%, PSX -6.9%, MPC -6.2%, ALJ -6.1%, NTI -5.3%, TSO -4.7%, HFC -4.7%. CVR Refining (CVRR -1.5%) is lower even after announcing estimated costs to meet Tier 3 standards are less than $20M[View news story]
Great time to add refinery stocks. Bottom line for refiners will not suffer. Consumers can expect higher prices tho.

If Romney wins, get into TRP, LNCO, KMI, KMP, KMR, WMB, PAA, etc, etc, etc... all the gas/oil upstream, midstream, downstream MLP's Get into coal, RNO, OXF. Remember Obama wants to kill the coal industry. Romney will build the pipeline from Canada (TRP) and a whole lot of other things. We need to become more energy independent, and with that means a lot of good opportunities out there. Nat gas, will become more profitable eventually, get in now or suffer the consequences of higher share prices. Oh well, that is my rant for today.
    Now for those damn cats........

Great article! Your family will benefit from your good sense. Also beginning investing in 2009 was a bit of luck as well. 2009 was perhaps the best time to get in the market in 80 years! Funny, 2009 was exactly 80 years from the stock market meltdown that brought on the great depression! History repeating itself?

Imagine what would happen if people used the time they spent sitting in front of the computer on Facebook to lets say go exercise: Obesity of 1/3 of the population would surely drop, they may actually help themselves feel better, connect with real people. I am retired now, 50 years old, exercise 3-4 hours a day. But I admit, I spend 3 hours a day on Seekingalpha....
