Is Fiat and Chrysler's Pullback on Electric Cars Bad News for A123 Systems?

Tesla and Fisker (QTWW - 20%) are going to lead the way in electric vehicles if the big boys don't get their act together. No telling what the new GM will do. We need a Tesla and Fisker IPO. Just my opinion but lets quit fighting the future. United We Stand!

Well if you count DARPA there is the whole Internet thing as well. Without which we wouldn't even be having the chat.

I don't mind the government funding, I would just like to see challenges in addition to it. The "free market" isn't always free from politics as well.

Or at least put out a challenge (with cash prize) along with the other investments.

One thing missing from all of this is the fact that the company that gets it right is always much more valuable than its peers. Google vs. Ask.com and Yahoo. Intel vs AMD, VIA.

What if the first major automotive and/or power grid deal comes before the fundamentals. That would seem reasonable has the major deal would obviously change the fundamentals of the company.

What's A123 Actually Worth? It's Anyone's Guess

Well at least it will be a useful bubble. The dot.com bubble provided us with the global Internet which has a huge benefit to society. Also many strong companies remain for the dot.com era, Amazon, Ebay, and of course Internet search really is valuable just ask Google. An alternative energy bubble would also have huge benefits for the world and the USA. So I am all for it.

I think it is a little different this time Doug, we have actual Hybrid cars for sale, not just concept cars. I have a Ford Fusion Hybrid and it is a very fun car.

Better Lithium-Ion Battery Plays than A123 Systems

I own AONE, BYDDF, HEV, and XIDE. I have traded in and out of CBAK and ABAT. But I like know that the Dept. of Energy as evaluated the tech at AONE, HEV, and XIDE and supports it. Also I like that Buffet (Munger) has evaluated the tech at BYDDF and supports it. A technology edge is a must if you want to make these types of batteries and vehicle profitable. Also IPOs tend to have a low float which helps share price.

I got some shares and I am happy. Should go higher. We need a better battery for all of the alternative energy sector. Investors will take a fresh look at the sector because of this IPO IMHO.
