your strategy looks appealing shorting and longing at different time frames seems to be reasonable, I never tried shorting because of the high risk that implies but I might give it a try with small 'pocket change' capital at that recommended ratio and see how it goes, the other thing is how MBIA is going to bump up the new subsidiary's rating to triple A to start new business in municipal bond insurance?
A Lot of those bets on derivatives have been done by financial instiutions with money that they dont have, borrow money, margin money and when things went down there you go down the tubes. The bets on housing related derivatives brought the banks down when the housing bubble popped, it is imperative now to correct the oversupply in housing to prevent further damage on those bets specially the ones in the banks books.

I think we should propose the creation of a third power 'the economic power' which runs independent of politicians and runs only on intelligence or knowledge. We have the legislative, executive/justice power, an economic one, independent of politics is needed.

I agree the fall of Lehman and with that the fall of about 2 trillion dollar market value in equities and collaterals almost wreck havoc of the finantial system and send us to the stone age, but hey we are going to heaven because we have good morals.

I just made a jump in the CDS market by promising insurance on derivatives for 250k for 1Mil over 1 year, but the thing is I dont have the money or any reserves to show off for, but hey this market is not regulated so no body can tell me anything, and if the time to pay claims come I just simply file for bankruptcy and go to Brazil to dance la lambada. Man I love America!
Well when you are the government and you have the advantage of the printing money machine to compensate for the around trillion dollar amount of bad loans (money that just vanish in thin air with a housing bust) it doesnt take a brainer that your currency or the country is going to collapse, its just a matter of time, unless the housing bubble equilibrates of course.
