Is the Breakdown of Stage6 the Beginning of DivX's End?

Thanks for this article. Now I have some insight, though instinctively felt. (ego oriented decision making) My reply is just short and simple. I don't understand why a "membership fee" wasn't tried?!
I mean 11 million times say $15 a month, wouldn't that've served to increase financial success to help further their goals?
I'm at an all time low of living month to month..very tight budget..yet even I would pay that $15.00.
Stage6 I've only been with for about 4 months, but had literally become part of my lifestyle. Everyday after work, it was to the computer and stage6. For the first time I got so behind, I had to let my comcast cable internet connection go for a week, and it was within that week that Feb.28th came. Even 'then' I would've kept up my preferred stage6 $15 payments. I don't beleive they understood what a personal passion stage6 users had for the sight.
I just don't know why they didn't even try to offer the transition of a membership fee?
