"....and with more free shipping, it's only a matter of time before eBay takes market share form AMZN..."

This just goes to show you the mentality of the eBay trolls.

SHIPPING IS NOT FREE!!! Shipping is incorporated into the price of the item! There's no deal there! Knock knock - anybody home? eBay just takes more of the sellers hard earned profits (again) via FVF - double/triple dipping I believe would be the correct terminology.

Just read this post too - enjoy:

...By the time John Donahoe took the helm of eBay in Q1 2008, he opted to “aggressively change our product, our customer approach and our business model.” In a futile effort to compete with Amazon and Google, eBay leadership essentially stripped whatever remaining fun existed out of its marketplace....

Who is eBay today? Amazon? Overstock? A liquidator? How 'bout an over-bloated pig?

With JD still at the helm, this tugboat is sinking more and more everyday. Between selling on Bonanzle.com and eCrater.com, I've made more and kept more money instead of stuffing it in eBay's bottomless pockets.

Fear not the gobbling dealings of Paypal, Facebook's "Pay With Facebook" is going to eat them alive!

Why Isn't Paypal More Successful? http://seekingalpha.com/article/139593-why-isn-t-paypal-more-successful?source=feed#comment-519752 519752 Et tu, Brute!,

SoberUp's comments carry no validity or weight whatsoever, as he is most likely a paid eBay operative. And let's not forget his childish kindergarten-like name calling comments in an early postings located here: seekingalpha.com/user/....

Ignore the employees, they get paid to distort the truth.

And the truth is Paypal IS NOT A BANK! They are not bound to federal regulations such as an FDIC financial institution. They can make up their own rules and as long as they can squeeze those "catch 22's" into their countless page agreement, they will continue to do what they want with your account, such as freezing your funds without an explanation.

President Obama is making the credit card companies clean up their tricky wording by making the fine print not so fine. My hope is that this administration will not over-look Paypal and eBay - the "we're just a venue" company.

Using ysearch certainly does de-clutter the searches, but eventually you'll have to sign in to get your email and be bombarded. I chose to use (iGoogle) www.google.com/ig - no ads on the homepage or email page. Loads up way faster and it's completely customizable. Give it a try!

I know I'm sick of being forced into watching advertisements/commerc... before I'm connected to what it was I clicked in the first place!

In my experience with Yahoo, I've found that if their ads don't load first - neither will your email or your homepage (AdBlock Plus for Firefox works great to eliminate these bothersome ads).

And yes, I'm one that dropped Yahoo like a hot potato in favor of a quieter, less cluttered home page. ]]>

Sales Tax for E-tailers? http://seekingalpha.com/article/131805-sales-tax-for-e-tailers?source=feed#comment-470262 470262
eBay is killing the seller with it's outrageous fees and now the government is going to kill eBay (along with other marketplaces) with it's outrageous fees. These two monstrosities don't get the big picture - not at all.

eBay believes raising fees beyond reason, is going to make them richer, quicker. Turn the seller into third world slaves - sell quantity at low prices, give eBay the majority of your profits and you'll do fine, right? *puke*

Enter Uncle Sam...The government believes taxing sellers (big and small) will make all the states rich, too. The end result (of course) is the consumer will incur these additional fees.

Many people shop online simply because of this tax-free incentive (especially on bigger ticket items). Unfortunately their greedy plans will back-fire. Countless numbers of potential online shoppers will simply stop buying (at least online).

Why would anyone shop online and pay the taxes too when they can easily buy their goods cheaper at their local Walmart - and we all know eBay has burdened sellers with sky-rocketing Final Value Fees and totalitarianism policies and put countless people out of business by stacking the cards against them.

The cost of shopping eBay already exceeds the cost of shopping at WalMart - now add tax to the equation! eBay will die quicker than it already is.

Look at the huge loss the US Post Office is taking - 2.3 billion dollars last year and they are still crashing. Their answer is to continually raise rates - again and again and again, yet the their bottom line is still suffering (they'll be raising rates again this May by the way).

Sometimes raising fees may not be the way to go. UPS is usually cheaper than using USPS and they include insurance! Who do you think is picking up the Post Office's business? *Hint... The one who offers more and costs less, of course!

They just don't get it, do they? These gluttonous hogs are going to put themselves right out of business along with millions of Americans. eBay can TARP, and us common folk...well.... we'll get another get a stimulus package for $12 dollars more a month.

Pretty soon eBay U.S. maybe just a name as they continually push out smaller sellers in favor of overseas garbage sellers.

I'm sorry you feel that it is better to censor opinions SoberUp and resort to name calling. Perhaps you should blog about that wonderful vocabulary of yours. Your statement in itself shows your lack of integrity.

When people resort to name calling, they lose the respect of anyone who reads those words. I remember that type of childish behavior dwindling around the 4th or 5th grade, when children realized that name calling actually made the name-caller themselves look like an immature toddler that no one ever really listens to.

I doubt that you will last long here or anywhere else for that matter with an attitude like that. Unfortunately, I fear your posts will no longer carry any merit what so ever.

I see this becoming a real set-back for the struggling Skype and eBay as a whole. With Revolution Money quickly climbing the peer to peer money transfers ladder - duking it out with PayPal - and eBay's continued decline in the marketplace, and now Skype having to contend with some major competitors, perhaps a nice plot over-looking the ocean might be considered.

What Can eBay Do to Close Its Amazon Gap? http://seekingalpha.com/article/129680-what-can-ebay-do-to-close-its-amazon-gap?source=feed#comment-453412 453412 It's not the recession that's dramatically slowing sales on eBay. It's the way they've stacked the cards against their customers (sellers) with an un-level playing field, outrageously high commission fees and now you have the option to un-bury your already paid listings by purchasing PPC so that maybe your items will show up in a BM search - to which they will gladly take another helping of your minuscule profits.

eBay will continue it's spiral so long as WalMart is cheaper. To succeed online you have to offer something better than your competition. In this case they once again fail miserably.

Skype Takes on the Enterprise http://seekingalpha.com/article/127360-skype-takes-on-the-enterprise?source=feed#comment-438921 438921 The trouble with eBay is they have no direction or ideas of their own. They perch like vultures atop a fence waiting for fresh ideas to be born from the minds of others and simply acquire them eg; PayPal, StubHub, BillMeLater, Half dot com, etc.... no real progress in idea department, aye?

They're first attempt at a new search engine "BestMatch" (coined "WorstMatch" from their customers) fails and continues to attract atrocious reviews from buyers and sellers alike.

Even the designer of this search engine (Raghav Gupta) quit because his search engine wasn't being used for the intended purpose.

"Its no secret within eBay that I spent quite a bit of the last year trying to stop the monstrosity that became best match, but it wasn’t enough." raghavgupta.wordpress..../

Amazon kicked the sand in eBay's eyes (again) as they trailed from behind throughout the holiday season. And now eBay wants to revert? Again? We've been telling them that trying to xerox Amazon was a terrible idea right from the start. They didn't listen (they never listen), now they want to be Overstock.com? ~~~whew! I'm getting dizzy~~~~

As eBay continues to try to be something they are not - always following the real leaders like Amazon, they will continue to wither and die.

Remember, copycats always finish in all but 1st place as what they aspire to be is usually old news.

Skype Takes on the Enterprise http://seekingalpha.com/article/127360-skype-takes-on-the-enterprise?source=feed#comment-438644 438644 Yes! Skype is so compelling, they don't know whether to sell it or mark it off as a loss. lol! I know I'm compelled to vomit. I would never put my faith into such a wishy-washy company. Back and forth and side to side.....from an Amazon wanna-be, and back again, to a liquidator, to an Overstock.com hopeful.

Who are you now eBay? Are you a search engine? Are you a marketplace? Are you a bank? Are you a telephone operator? Are you a cream filled doughnut? sheesh!

They've already admitted they had grossly overpaid for the technology and eBay took a $1.4 billion goodwill impairment charge -- an acknowledgment that a particular acquisition didn't generate the value initially expected -- related to the Skype deal.

Stick with MagicJack - "the Skype killer" and the soon to be released "Google Voice". Be smart. Be wise. Invest in a stable company like Amazon.

Skype Takes on the Enterprise http://seekingalpha.com/article/127360-skype-takes-on-the-enterprise?source=feed#comment-438087 438087 ebay+++ is an eBay employee a.k.a. "spin doctor". LOL!

@ ebay+++ who stated: "MagicJack is crap. You have to have a computer to use it. All you need with Skype is Internet access, WiFi"

Why would you need internet access if you don't have a computer? Would anybody pay for internet access just to use Skype?

MagicJack is great! I was skeptical at first too. They offer a 30 day guarantee, so I figured what do I have to lose? I'm more than satisfied with my decision. I guess that's they call MagicJack "the Skype and Vonage killer". Do a search for it...

And as for users of the MagicJack needing a computer to use it, most of us have one anyway and I'd much rather use something I already own than have another phone bill.

I remember AIG offering their "help" to corporations and businesses too - just before they asked for a few multi-billion dollar bail-outs.

Abandon ship!!
