eBay: Triple Whammy Weighs on Stock Price
Well, she's part of the problem then! Hypocrite!
The real reason for buyers leaving is FRAUD, high prices, the oversaturation of China goods on the U.S. site, and eBay's knack for lies. Now there's a profession and a site they should be concentrating on.
How much more can sellers raise their prices in order to keep feeding the greed before buyers can run down to WalMart and pick it up -without having to pay for shipping or deal with fraud? And there were always garage sales, swap meets and flea markets way before eBay.
eBay refuses to take any logical steps to combat fraud. Verify and confirm your sellers and verify and confirm OUR buyers eBay!
Sheeesh! I swear, when they were passing out the brains and common sense, eBay and their management were standing there with a thimble.
They have got their fingers in every possible orifice. They have your money spent before you do. They want you to sell quantity to make a pitiful profit, be as naked as Adam when it come to buyer fraud and scammers, and they offer 0 support to it's customers.
The take it or leave it attitude and overwhelming greed has destroyed a once fun and easy place to buy, sell and trade.
I have absolutely no sympathy for you eBay. In fact, I've only wanted fleas and mosquitoes to perish more than you, and even that's a thin line.
Enjoy your slow death eBay, as many of us are watching on the sidelines with much anticipation awaiting your final keel.
Wal-Mart vs. eBay: Which is a Safer Stock to Own?
You are exactly right!
"Did you know, that Amazon will close down the account of a problem BUYER? Yep. They will. No problem."
"Ever heard of ebay doing that? NOPE! It's greed. They don't care if a buyer cheats a seller ten ways to Monday as long as greedbay gets their share of the cut. Sellers are expendable."
And eBay+++ has got his head shoved so far up that dark place it's pathetic.
I have to agree with the majority of the posts here. eBay is a walking corpse. The wellness of this company is in jeopardy and has never been in more dire need of new management than right now.
I am an eBay PowerSeller. I stopped selling back in February along with tens of thousands of other sellers. However, circumstances prevented me from continuing the boycott. I am still actively pursuing other venues for selling my wares.
I began selling again at the end of June. I knew it was only a matter of time before the Nazi-type tactics of eBay's new policies would destroy another 100% positive and honest seller - and now it only takes one buyer!
Let me briefly explain how eBay works to destroy the small seller:
A buyer purchased 4 DVD player/recorders. He receives them promptly, in perfect working order and as described. However, soon after, I receive an email from the scammer that reads:
"The recorder I received does not fit the description. I thought I was buying a HDTV recorder. In fact this is nothing more than a regular DVD recorder with an HDMI uplink."
Here is the title of my listing: HIGH DEFINITION DVD RECORDER HDMI 1080p iLINK!
Yep, that’s right! He states in his own words, that what I described and sold was exactly what I was selling, AND exactly what he bought! But he decided it could be what ever he wanted it to be! Why? Because he could!
He goes on to say: "I would like to return these recorders for a refund as I believe I have been misled through your advertisement. This is not as advertised. It is not a HDTV recorder."
No... it’s not a HDTV recorder, IT is a DVD Player/recorder as stated in the title and the body of the listing!
I emailed him back several times, willing to work out his mistake. He did not respond.
Needless to say he left me negative feedback: ”Seller Misrepresented Product”
Now it seems, buyers can get exactly what they pay for, but say they thought they were getting something else. Sellers can be penalized and charged higher fees for being honest? Why not bid on a worn out shoe and just say I thought I was buying a Jumbo Jet or a 5 bedroom house?
I received the typical canned response from eBay:
"We are very concerned about violations on the site and have thoroughly investigated your report. The eBay Privacy Policy prevents me from discussing the specifics of our investigation. I can tell you, however, that in this instance we didn't find evidence that a violation occurred."
The buyer will neg you and eBay will side with them. It doesn't matter what the buyer really buys, he can and will say what ever he wants.
This is the new eBay. Buyers, (and even your competition) CAN and WILL destroy your business, while eBay sits idly by watching the small business owner go down, all the while collecting higher fees as you struggle to repair the damage that is maliciously inflicted upon you.
A buyer has destroyed my 5.0 DSR's, lowered my feedback and credibility and blatantly lied in the process. eBay has done nothing but tell me, "We're just a venue and the buyer has a right to his opinion."
I feel there is a major conflict of interest, as eBay's hand has grown larger, digging deeper into my pockets and I will be paying 20% higher final value fees, as my discounts will no longer apply.
Convenient? YOU BET! More profitable for eBay? YOU BET! Easy to accomplish with the new policies? YOU BET!
Simply because I sold an item that was exactly as described and the buyer decided he wanted to change the listing to what he thought he should have.
My company is suffering and the worst part is eBay condones this type of malicious slander and out-right lying. It's funny how they are "just a venue" when it comes to sellers, but an advocate of scammers, fraud and bad buyers.
eBay's Latest Screw-Up
It doesn't surprise me though... eBay has never come up with their own ideas. Albeit Pierre launching AuctionWeb in 1995. Ebay simply waits on the fence like vultures for others to come up with ideas, and then they aquire them!
PayPal, StubHub, Kijiji (craigslist spin-off), the buy-it-now button, skype, half(dot)com, shopping(dot)com, Rent(dot)com and more! All were other peoples ideas, and all thought of by other brilliant minds that weren't on the payroll.
Someone got lucky over a decade ago... and that's about it...
eBay's Latest Screw-Up
eBay's Latest Screw-Up
Since eBay wants a more retail commercial-like atmosphere, unique one-of-a-kind items would be the "flea market" atmosphere that they are ashamed of and trying to get rid of.
You remember, right innocent observer? The type sellers that made eBay billions? Oh no, you wouldn't remember, your just a part-time buyer.
Sellers have many similar items. One may be exactly as the other ten except for a few features, a color, an extra wheel, a glow in the dark remote as opposed to a illuminated remote, or one may be lacking a feature found in the other similar units.
Since the title of your listing contains a limited number of keywords that can be used to make it easier for you "part-time buyers" to find the product they're looking for, many times those keywords cannot be wasted on "red", "blue", "glow in the dark remote" etc...
So you see part-time buyer, sellers should get what they pay for, an ADVERTISEMENT for a FEE, otherwise it's called FRAUD!
And you can take your foot out of your mouth now.. "I don't know what a Dutch Auction is but I suspect its immaterial."
If you don't know what goes on behind the scenes, your 2 cents is useless.
eBay's Latest Screw-Up
abracadabra!! POOF!! All gone!
eBay's Latest Screw-Up
Well since you're just a "part-time buyer", you could never understand the inner workings of eBay or just how bad the sellers are being treated and ripped off.
Some people put their trust into Enron too. Poor folks...
You, as just a buyer, shop our stores, see an item, you buy, you receive, and then you have the audacity to spew your rhetoric here?
If you PAID for an item but didn't receive it, you'd be pretty damn mad wouldn't you? Well... that's how it is when WE sellers PAY for a service and then DO NOT receive it!
Now hurry... run along and go pick up your check from eBay...
eBay's Latest Screw-Up
That wasn't the sellers calling in... that was just buy.com reporting in to their new master, exclaiming how great it is to list for free!
This is FRAUD! Plain and Simple. You are paying eBay for a service, and that is to advertise your items for a fee ( and a hefty fee at that). They are selectively "hiding" your paid advertisment.
Contact your state attorney general. This corporate mismanagement and thievery has to STOP!
eBay Estimates Raised Ahead of Earnings
eBay has flipped it's lid and gone off the deep end. This place is and has been in a death spiral to which there is no recovery. It's just a matter of time before they're headline news, just like Enron. In my opinion...

Not Seeing a 'Better & Safer' eBay
"eBay must do what is best for all! They must protect their buyers to keep sellers. If you have no buyers, you don't need sellers."
Wow! Even if there were no buyers, think of all the sellers paying eBay for their outrageous listing fees. Oh that's right, they lowered the listing fees by a nickel (less risk if the item doesn't sell) -Not to mention all the newbies coming along trying to live the lie of making a living on ebay, and they'll stick it out for a while paying and losing and so-on and so-on...
There's no problem with a company making a profit, that's why they're here, however, a fair marketplace does not exist on eBay anymore. It seems we're working for eBay without a pay check. Ebay calls their sellers "noise" (and hung the phone up on them during live radio!). When I hear noise, I stick my fingers in my ears... That's what eBay did to it's customers. The same customers who pay them.
Is Donahoe Trying to Destroy eBay?
I felt it was very important that this be seen again by those of you who do not know where Donahoe's roots were before he lit the fuse at eBay.
Thanks for the eye-opener ex-MQer
Just look back at what Donohoe did to MedQuist when he ruled there...got them delisted from the SEC and involved in lawsuits from cheating the transcriptionists and cheating the hospitals, yet he left with a golden umbrella. MedQuist is still trying to recover from his rule. Now for some reason eBay thinks he walks on water when he'll be their downfall.
Who's next in line? Martha Stewart?

eBay Tales of Surveys and Sellers
I do think that ebay should be held more accountable for the fraud and fakes that continue to plague their site. If they would spend more time reading the horrid feedbacks of fraudulent sellers and investigating the complaints, they might be able to get a better handle on this epidemic. But ebay doesn't want to suspend these types of sellers who continue to make them rich, do they? It's far too much money to just throw away to protect these "noisemakers"... eh, weblens?
Watch for yourself:
www.youtube.com/watch?...
If someone wanted to pay $25,000 for a Rolex, I'm sure they'd buy it at a brick and mortar. Ebay is for bargain shoppers... at least they used to be.
They have their greedy little fingers in every other cookie jar, why not dip their sticky fingers in the protection jar too?
