The big problem with COF is that they don't own the network like axp and dfs, they they don't get all that fee income to help offset loan loses. DFS and AXP are better bets. DFS having the more growth potential long term.

My comments only related to dfs and axp, i wouldn't touch most other financials with a barge pole. You've got to look closely at the individual company level. Only other financial i have is MCO.

i can't make sense of banks right now so don't feel confident with any of them. There are plenty of other quality companies to choose from, why even bother? for instance i just doubled my holding of AB, plenty of upside without all the uncertainly of huge debts.

Funny kind of bailout, why not lend Bear Stearns the money it needs? situation must have been horrendous to sell out for $2. Someone posted that their Manhatten office cost $750million!
