well I chose the companies that are more within my circle of understanding ... I probobly should have included bni because I do get the economics there...I just believe there is more value in say kft right now ... with kft you are buying shares below berkshires cost where as with bni you would be paying a hefty premium to berkshires cost...but good point...
Berkshire Hathaway: At a Good Buying Opportunity [View article]
i would mention that Berkshire is a citadel of first class businesses run by first class managers...and that to buy berkshire at a moderate to premium price would ...over time... be ok...but to buy it now at under 4,000 for a b share is really quite a good investment...
This article is very anecdotal and superficial...I dont see where there is detailed insight...one thing for sure GE has a large financial division that wont do well in the short run but we dont buy stocks for the short run...my guess is this may be time to buy some GE...but why buy GE when one can buy PG and KFT ...
Will the Market Keep Falling? I Hope So [View article]
very nice article, I like to buy exellent businesses with durable competitive advantage run by first class, honest managers at a reasonable price. When a great business like American Express can be purchased fractionally at say $44/share instead of $66/share one has a much better margin of safety inherent in their investment. I just bought AXP at $43 and change and do feel good about the investment. The real goal as an investor is to avoid buying poor businesses at what seems to be "good" prices.

Radio Value Opportunity Beckons: Calling Warren Buffett [View article]
Dont you think this industry suffers from what the newspaper industry suffers from: poor economics. That is to say would radio have even existed if satellite radio and ipods and on demand media existed first? Buffet does not own a radio station to my knowledge. I would say the long term earnings power of a radio station is not as knowable as say the future earnings power of say gillette... so why invest in it. Do you have an investment in radio?
