The (Abandoned) Uptick Rule and Blaming the Shorts
What are people worried about? If shares in a company that's doing well goes down, surely somebody can step in to buy? What better bargain are artificially low prices of a good company?

Weak Dollar is Bad For America - and ETFs
"Have you ever heard of a country in deep economic trouble because of a strong currency? "

oh yes. Britain tried to fix its currency at overvalued valuations after the war. so, there u have it, strong currency lead to deep economic trouble.

Why I'm Restarting Stakes in Malaysia and Singapore
I have a question about how you see the correlation between USA and the SE Asia emerging markets, in particular MY and SG.

Mark, Malaysia would be dead money for some time. The political wrangles will increase.

You did a good job of managing your exits with EWS and EWM. This is something you will always have to do, as you already doubtless know.

Is a Nikkei 225 Bottom Near?
I'm not sure what your central thesis is. Are you speaking of

      (i) a dead cat bounce scenerio (since you mentioned Japanese investors giving up on the market)

(ii) or are you talking of a fundamental change in trend? And if so, then why? (your article didn't say anything about reasons, other than dividend yield, which is a weak reason)

How to Trade This 'Bear' Market - Barron's
There's a very strange bias going on with these financial news articles blogs etc. Namely, these often say (i) "hold on, its a blip downwards, nothing to worry about" (ii) "its fallen a bit, so its good value" (iii) " buy because its fallen and hence is good value or a bargain " (iv) "its fallen too far and you can't sell". This is being, I think, more than a bit sneaky to readers. More than a bit sneaky, I stress.

I Don't Trust This Market Rally
Well, just to note what the rally was, it was a +400 dow points, and subsequent decline over the next three days, leaving the dow (if you are a dow person) slightly up. The speed of the rally upwards suggests stale bulls are still in existence, sadly. Only hope they had the sense to cut their losses really quickly, with their nose to the screens. Well, they probably got hit with margin calls anyway. lol.

No. This week is too uncertain to be certain, which is why you need to have, amongst other things, your nose glued to your screen, *and* a satisfactory trading strategy. Now, what is a satisfactory trading strategy? Its a bit like asking what your bank balance is. But you can't call this coming week accurately and go off to play golf or something similar.

Far From a Bottom in Financials
dear FX trader. Addressing your points

      a. write backs of written down loans is possible, but not when housing market is worsening badly. Not all the news has been reflected in the figures. Hence the downtrend in stocks will continue.

      b. consumers are in very bad shape. The Nov cure is too far off to contemplate. So, stocks will continue falling.

      c. Flow of foreign funds into the USA will come when matters have stabalised. Not whilst things are crashing. So, stocks will continue falling.

The technicals are very oversold. The recovery will be fierce. As always cover your shorts quickly.

      Best of luck.

Is the Malaysian Stock Market Due to Fall?
Its probably hard to call a definite short on KLSE - EWM, but you should certainly sell off when you think there is around temporary peaks .. these peaks you have to call on your own (unfortunately).
