World Recovery Is in the Hands of OPEC [View article]
We can be free from foreign oil in 20 years. The technology and US resources are already here. All we need is the leadership Obama should have focused on this first instead of healthcare and set the vision for the future. This would have driven jobs and made our Arab enemies impotent.
Big Pharma: Where's the Risk Management? [View article]
Sorry not impressed, either with oral-Lyn data that has been presented or the concept of a metformin chewing gum. Based on PhII results, PhIII will not get approval fro Oral-Lyn. Sorry, but this is a scam company at best. Not reckless, but a realist.

GNBT is about as highly speculative as you can get. Right up there with the likes of GNTA et al. Oral-Lyn will never get approval in a major martket. Absorption is highly variable and unreliable. I agree that Big Pharma is stumbling around in this environment, but comparing this joke of a company called Generex to PFE is absolutely ludicrous. This begs the question, where is your risk management or are you just clueless?

Write facts, but wrong interpretation. Big Pharma spending at CRO probably hasn't changed much, but rather the smaller, more virtual biotechs who have dramtically cut back on their spending due to the lack of funds and lack of access to credit markets due to the credit crunch.
Electric Stimulus Crunch? Generating Utilities May See 10% Revenue Declines [View article]
"That could mean a +10% decline in demand for power generation."
I am sure efficiency improvements could be 10% but keep in mind, overall demand will most likely increase, especially has the new plug-in electric cars need to be charged every night. Electric utilities are quite low now, but with rate caps coming off, higher energy for HDTV's and new electric car demand, I see electric utilities becoming very attractive.

The impact of lower gasoline prices on the consumer has been seriously discounted and under reported, even by serious analysts. Plots of PCE over time show that the bottom has been formed and we are in recovery. On a personal level, I am now "saving" about $200/month on gasoline. I am paying down debt and spending elsewhere, instead of sending this money to the Arabs. Multiply this by 100 million people and you see that the "gas" stimulus is immediate and significant.

All I know I that i am now saving about $200/month in gas which I am now spending elsewhere. Multiply this by 100 million people, an you have a very huge stimulus now occurring. From PCE perspective, i believe we have hit bottom.

A Modest Proposal For The U.S. Auto Industry: Stop Building Cars [View article]
Vertical integration isn't the reason for bad business or bad cars. Obviously, its bad decisions and bad designs by the Big 3. Also, they already outsource many of their parts already. The mfg part is really just assembly. Clearly wages have to come down, but these are the jobs we want to keep. Toyota and Honda have already showed that this is workable in the US. If your model was workable, someone would have already done it.
Convertibles: Collateral Damage of the Shorting Ban [View article]
When companies issues convertibles in order to raise capital, it is usually bad for the small investor. I say good riddance. If the deal is not solid enough to stand alone without being able to short, then I say the idea to support the deal is not good enough and should not be done in the first place. Next.
Peak Insanity: SEC Plans to Temporarily Ban Short-Selling [View article]
Chris Cox should have been fired long ago. A little regulation long ago could have avoided the gross manipulations, that not until Goldman and Morgan became "manipulated", did we see that Cox started enforcing the law on naked shorting. I would have like to seen him delay puttiing on his new found "regulatory hat", and let Goldman sink to the depths they deserve.
Merck’s Gardasil: A Risky and Unnecessary Vaccine [View article]
Pamela, don't understand the title of your article, or are you just short Merck and want to jump on the Merck bashing bandwagon. Do you think a parent whose daughter has cervical cancer would say the vaccine is risky and unnecessary? It seems to me, for a vaccine that was tested very safe and 100% effective in a clinical setting , it would be risky not to get the vaccine. Both my daughters received the vaccine, and when it is approved for boys, my son will get it too. I would say, to others, why take the chance with your child's health by not eliminating one type of cancer. In my view, this is both risky and unnecessary.
