Great, I'm in the process of converting my MLPs and am looking for non K-1 replacements. So far I've considered KMR, EEQ, CEM, TOO, and now SDRL looks like another good candidate.

  • Analysis Of My 7 Reliable Monthly Dividend Stocks [View article]
    Todd,

Thanks for your many fine articles.
I have owned PGH for many years and like the monthly dividend, however, I've been thinking about total return lately and am confused by how total return and annualized return are related. Your table shows PGH with an 18.5% annualized performance. When I go to my Schwab stock research info it sez the 3 yr total return for PGH is -3.9%. They define total return as:

"The Total Return is the rate of return representing the price appreciation of a stock with cash dividends reinvested on the pay date for the most recent 3 fiscal years."

I would rather have your 18.5% rather than their -3.9%. What am I missing?

  • Your Options For Tax-Deferred Retirement Investing [View article]
Any suggestions on how to reinvest IRA distributions that we don't currently need? We are both in our 70s. We have one child and 2 grandchildren to consider. I don't think we can invest in a Roth IRA. A 529 might be a possibility.
Sorry if this is off topic.

  • It's Not Too Late To Hedge Your Portfolios [View article]
    Bill,

Thanks for your informative articles. Do you have a formula or rule of thumb for the percentage of hedge per a portfolio total. For example, how much should I hedge per $100,000. My wife and I are retired and have enough income from social security, annuity, teacher retirement, and dividends to pay our monthly bills.
