  • Apple's Up to Its Usual Tricks [View article]
Apple would be crucified if they missed EPS by just 1 cent, and people wonder why they consistently guide 10% low? By Apple keeping guidance low, they are adding strength to the company stock price. They keep guiding low and outperforming, only to again have AAPL flogged again on the next guidance. Sooner or later, AAPL is going to break out and rush to $250 when iPhone 3G and its next iterations blow all forecasts away. End of my rant.

  • $1.2 Billion in iPhone Apps? Not Likely. [View article]
I can see a big pickup for Apple here, bigger than iPod. But what happens if iPhone 2.0 gets jailbroken. Is there a revenue loss ahead if iPhone apps go outside of Apple's control. Adult content?? Mind you, at these expected affordable prices, it'll be like music - its cheap enough to buy and try. If iPhone makes it into the enterprise - it will be huge for Apple. It will double their business in less than 5 years.

I sold 25% of my modest holding at $185 to simply "lock in" my investment just over 4 years ago. I've banked double my stake, and still hold 75% of my AAPL portfolio. I'm expecting AAPL to start a steady climb within 4 - 8 weeks of the iPhone release towards $250 or more by end 2009, and around $400 by end 2011. I wonder if AAPL has finished with doing stock splits.

  • Wanted, Dead or Alive: The iPhone Killer [View article]
Does any other phone manufacturer push software updates at you like Apple does with the iPhone? This feature alone is worth the price of entry, existing users will get increased functionality with each new release, so they wont necessarily be left behind by a 3G iPhone other than the obvious radio chipset differences. EDGE is still more widespread the HSDPA (3G) in the US. I would expect a sales turnaround in other parts of the world where 3G is king. What I am missing from the Apple camp is more country specific availability announcements. May be Apple went ahead with UK, France, Germany, Ireland etc to appease the iPhone leakage to those countries. I want to see countries like India, China, Japan, Russia, Brazil get their official announcements, but Apple is waiting for the 3G iPhone for those markets.
