I enjoyed the article along with the comments, and I especially enjoyed and appreciated the author's responses to many of the comments. Good job folks! Thanks.
I have always enjoyed both Stewart and Cramer, and took them both with a grain of salt. Prior to last week I never knew that Stewart was a saint passing himself off as an entertainer. What a hyprocrite! As for Cramer I will continue to enjoy him with that aforementioned grain of salt, and will continue to take his constant advice to do my homework.
When Will American Realize the World Has Changed? [View article]
surgcare: Our government has been in the complete control of people that think like you for the past seven and a half years. Do you people ever take responsibility for your own failures? There is plenty of blame to go around, and it is dishonest for you to reject that obvious fact.
What Gives the Portfolio Its Power? [View article]
Whatsthmatter? Did you guys make the mistake of betting against him? There is nothing that adds to a discussion like personal attacks against those with whom you disagree, eh!
Your reasoning as to "beginning a stake in Goldman Sachs (GS)" is certainly on target, to-wit: "I prefer to go with the company with their hands in every piece of our government and economic system" and ... "with unfettered access to the Fed's balance sheet, with much lighter regulation than tradiditonal banks - these guys should now be able to run wild with your taxpayer dollars." We may or may not like it, but that is the way it is.
Is Netflix a Short Term Sell or a Long Term Buy? [View article]
The stock may or may not be over-valued. I don't know, but as a long-time subscriber, but not an owner of Netflix, I can attest to one "competitive advantage" of the company. Their outstanding customer care and service has been referred to by Consumer Reports mag and by others. Both the customer service and the easy access to it by email or phone is a plus, and is truly a competitive advantage. Their unusually excellent care of their subscribers started out good, and it has continued to improve over the years. That kind of customer care does have, and will continue to have value.

mixter: I agree that you certainly did attend one of the better geology schools. Too bad you didn't take an economics course or two while you were there. I've been thinking all these years that the ups and downs of the free markets were just part of the way they they work, and now you explain that it all had to do with Ted Kennedy, bleeding heart liberals, and Ronmac throws in Congress, and other "idiots". Thanks for clearing that up. And by the way, I don't know for sure, but Ted Kennedy was probably in high school or college in 1958.

AlaternativeFuel: Thanks for the reference to the particular article in setamericafree/org. I found both the article and the website very interesting in regard to the subject of this thread.
"Cheap's" posts reek of common sense. At least people with his attitude DO something about our energy problems rather than just whine about what others try to do. No, I don't own a plug-in electric car, but I wish I did.
