  • MXI: For Investors Looking to Catch the Global Materials Sector's Recovering Momentum [View article]
A wonderfully astute mentor taught me many years back that when we know something, anything, or everything, the exact opposite is far more likely to result e.g., a rampant asset bubble looms directly ahead. Additionally, the NR and materials stocks have enjoyed very nice gains and are anything other than cheap ATPIT!

Paraphrasing, it perhaps is a great time to unload on the unsuspecting under the guise that, “we all know XYZ!” Supporting this thought, which of the 3-generally accepted inflationary prerequisites are currently or reasonably near term foreseeable in play:

    1) Easy Consumer Credit

    2) High Demand

    3) Full Employment?

To each his/her own and best of luck to all.

I agree with your presentation! As my lawyer states, however, timing is everything. The discount has narrowed precipitously from the low 20s to yesterdays -3.59% numeric as you noted.

After declines of this magnitude, I personally have found it difficult to make significant profits. In fact, at discounts in the 3s or less, a wonderful opportunity exists to take profits and switch to a global energy ETF or a well run OEF as Vanguard's Energy Fund - VGENX.

Let the buyer beware when discount drops as described are in place. I enjoyed your article.

    Mark,

Your comments on Noah’s Ark are noted. As a physics PhD candidate and an extraordinarily bright, insightful, and discerning individual what are your thoughts relating to the fact that 72% of Americans (not a typo) believe Noah’s Ark actually existed?
