This Week in Solar: Thin-Film Players Steal Spotlight [View article]
Thin film steals spotlight? That's what happened in solar this week?
How about TSL hitting new highs as well as strong momentium with CSIQ, JASO and SOLF. These were the big moves during this short week.
The article mentions ENER which finally showed some life but is still short of the 50dma.
Oh, and dividing the capital cost of a new plant into the annual capacity with no consideration of operating costs for Solyndra seems flawed to me, unless they only last one year...
Is Solar Power Inherently Deflationary? [View article]
They want to keep control of our power supply. When we install a grid tied PV system on our roof we become a small power plant, selling or at least off setting our electrical usage. When we have electric cars charged from the sun, they won't be able to sell us fuel. And so what if payback (at todays rates) is 10 years, 8 years or even 15 years. Typical PV panels last for 40+ years with next to no maintanence. I consider the free power then to be part of my retirement plan
Yes Solar is a big threat to the oil and coal industries. But the truth is we don't pay the true cost at the pump of those dirty fuels as they poison our streams and choke our populations.
Oh, and nuclear is an insane proposition with a heap of baggage.
