John Mack is so smart that he got MS into this mess in the first place! Being smart is great but if your arrogance overwhelms it then it's useless. Merrill Lynch would have failed if it wasn't bought out. That could happen to Morgan as well.... maybe they merge with Golden Slacks? I can say for sure the feds will NEVER allow The Goldmen to fail. True, MS is officially a bank now, but they have yet to get people to move their deposits over. Would YOU like to open a deposit account there?
I'm skeptical of GE as well. They are too big and are in too many different businesses. Forget about GE as a financial company.... that is just an albatross around their neck. I foresee some major divestitures.

Speculation has always existed in all markets. It's naive to think the big wall street investment houses are manipulating the price of a global commodity. EVERYONE is paying those prices, not just Americans.
Interesting that the author mentions having oil as the new money. Hey, got news for you: Oil has been the basis of value for the USD for a loooong time already. Do you really think oil going up in price has no relation to the USD going down???
